How highly do you rate Pac's perfomance in Pac-Barrera I?

Pac is mostly known as a great weight jumper, but beating up Barrera as he did is a truly great perfomance even without any weight issues. Almost surprising that it isn't talked about more. I don't think even Jones-Toney or Hopkins-Trinidad was as one-sided.

Where would you put it among all time great perfomances? Is it among the best of the last 10-20 years?

Best win of the past decade. His best performance by a good distance too given the opponent.

I agree. It's very rare to see as good a fighter as prime Barrera dominated like that.

Higher than the heads of full grown giraffes. Hopkins/Trinidad & Toney/Jones were great wins/performances too but they were still competitive. I don't remember Barrera ever having his moments in the first fight.

Can anyone think of any other occassion when a fighter of Barrera's quality has been dominated like that at his best weight?

The first round was quite close. Barrera could have won it even if that KD hadn't (wrongly) been given. But after that it was nothing but a beat down.

Thought he was in it in the first few rounds but its been a while since I saw it.

Thought MAB seemed to neutralise Pac in the rematch but its been a while and it was 4am when I watched it

    122lbs wasn't MAB's best weight, anyhow.

Well, he was 126, so... The same weight as his victories over Hamed and Morales (first one).

Hey maybe he was in the fight during the early rounds. I know that mid rounds-11th round stoppage that he was not in the fight. The rematch is a good performance from Pacquiao as he showed some good boxing-type skills and Barrera probably won a few rounds in the rematch. I have the first fight but it's been a while since I've looked at that and the rematch. Foreman-Frazier is the only other example I can think of when a highly rated HOF'er/ATG gets obliterated in their natural weight class.

:lol:It's okay Addie. We're rightfully not bashing Barrera so all is well here. He was a great fighter but that just wasn't his time to shine he ran into problems before, during, and after that fight(the fire at Big Bear during his training camp, divorce I think,etc.).
