Bloody hell JG.. With that thread title, I needed a young kid to decypher it.

Have you turned Gangsta in your old age?

My own fav live fight experience is seeing Fenech iced 3 out of the 4 times I seen him.

    vs Nelson II
    vs Grove
    vs Holiday

Kostya Tszyu's debut was also pretty impressive.

For me, it was watching the great Eddie Perkins in action! I was lucky enough to attend 2 of his fights back in the late 60's - and to this day, he stands out as the finest ring technician I've seen live.

He wasn't the flashy type, dancing all over the place like Pep - nor did he make a lot of excess, jerky movements a la Mosley. No, he was very calm and controlled in everything he did, coming in behind a strong left jab - and then bringing over the right when he saw an opening. Just beautiful to watch!

Today, when I see a fighter like Pacquiao, I wonder how a prime Perkins would do against him. In my heart, I want to think that he would take the Filipino to school - but when I think about it rationally, I realize, that he most likely wouldn't. I was just an impressionable 17-year-old kid, when I saw him... and over the years I have probably, in my mind, build him up to something he can't quite live up to. I have tried to find a clip of him on YouTube, but so far with no luck. And maybe it's better that way - because if something does turn up one day, I'll probably be more than a little disappointed!

Bukkake, I seen Perkins bout with Ryu Sorimachi (albeit on film) and he is just as you say, such a good technician and this was him way past his best.

Conn phoned-it-in, N -- not the pre-war Billy The Kid.

No kidding. I would've thought that was some perennial performance or something.

Billy's first shot at Louis was a heart-stopper, not the return. Dull beyond words, and Billy swooned.
