Didn't Emmanuel Steward, Wlad's trainer state that Haye would be Wlad's defining fight?

Ok, maybe he's just helping the promotion, or maybe it's not such a myth? It depends if the fight happens, and what kind of fight it turns out to be.

So, Lewis and Bowe get little credit for Holyfield? Holyfield gets little credit for Moorer and Qawi? Louis gets little credit for Schmeling and Conn? Baer gets little credit for Schmeling? Tyson gets little credit for Spinks? Marciano gets little credit for Charles and Moore? Liston gets little credit for Patterson? I mean, if that's the logic to go by...I mean, I grant you, I don't think Haye is nearly as good as any of those fighters, so if you say Wlad doesn't get nearly as much credit, fine, I wouldn't say so either, but certainly not based only on Haye, a very large CW who had trouble boiling down to that weight, simply being the smaller man. Because, there are plenty of heavyweight champions who have major, highly regarded and significant legacy fights with smaller men/men from lower divisions than themselves. That's for certain.

Peter I is Wlad's career defining fight -
it shows the level of his current skills, determination
and abilities to overcome his chin isssues ...
sure Wlad have boring style now, but he looks to be unbeaten
and fight with Peter defined the path of his current career

You sort of answered your own question there....If Haye was as established at as a Holyfield, then sure. But Haye is no Holyfield. He's not even a Moorer (who beat Holyfield that first time btw) He'd definately not a Spinks either.
If Wlad beats HAye, he gets no extra credit, in that it does not raise his standing any. The Haye win would be no more impressive then the Byrd win.

This is a career-defining fight, no doubt.

Wlad's career is defined as is. Another unification win will add to his legacy regardless of who holds that belt.

An overweight, slow, unskilled fighter who's best win is against a badly shot Oleg Maskaev?

A guy who needed the judges to bail him out against John Ruiz, in his hometown? Who's claim to fame is getting hepatitis?

    Some ****ing legacy :rofl

It all depends on how Haye's career plays out. If he goes on and does big things at heavyweight then its Wlad's defining fight if he gets knocked off his next fight to a lesser opponent then the fights importance loses some of its luster. Haye is considered a threat to Wlad, the top contender to his title, and a belt holder himself so Haye will always carry some significance, that question in 20 years will depend on how Haye's career plays out when he's done.

If Haye retires this year, which I doubt, then I'd still put guys like Byrd, Chagaev, Chambers, and maybe Ibrigamov ahead of Haye because they all proved themselves much more than Haye has. Haye was a good cruiser and has a nice win or two at heavy but doesn't have the resume, at this point, to be a career defining fight. If Haye retires after Wlad then his stock and the importance of this fight will lose ground over time. Its similar to Lennox-Grant in that regard. Again, its all depending on how Haye's career plays out.

I love how the Haye fans say neither Klitschko can become an ATG yet if Haye were to beat them both he would be.:rofl:patsch

    Nice logic there. :lol::lol:

Yes, of course. Chagaev has much better amateur pedigree and professional HW record than Haye. Haye is just another contender except with a paper belt.

Chagaevs amateur pedigree has nothing to do with anything.

His best win at HW is Valuev, and so is Haye's. Other than that, between them they have no real good wins of any note.

The difference is, Haye is better than Chagaev. He is also a more accomplished fighter, unifying 3 belts at Cruiserweight, before moving to heavyweight. Chagaev has struggled to convincingly win fights against c-level fighters at heavyweight. John Ruiz nearly beat him for ****s sake. He needed a gift from the judges to beat John Ruiz, a guy who haye smashed in an easy win.

Haye is better than Chagaev, and that is a fact.

'Ears, the difference is, Lewis rematched & smashed McCall around the ring, whereas Wlad got his big brother to beat-up Sanders for him. :yep

Haye is as defining fight in Wlad's career as Arreola was for Vitali...

Thats why id like Haye to face Povietkin before Klits. He should prove himself, gain some credit and then he can provide any sort of legacy. For now it's a pure british hype, and win over old champ Mormeck and a poor win over a russian giant are not very heavy in terms of 'legacy'.
