Is Andre Ward outpointing Arthur Abraham just a foregone conclusion at this stage?

We have seen Abraham suffer 2 Career defining defeats at the hands of Dirrell and Froch where he was convincing outboxed and in some respect exposed. However do you believe Ward will thoroughly outbox the more limited fighter or do you give Abraham a shot at the upset? Thoughts and opinions...........

 

abraham has a chance if ward doesnt stay focused and box non stop.

1 punch is all abraham needs quite possibly.

 

Puncher has puncher's chance, so AA does have a shot. But Ward can beat AA in so many ways it's not funny. I can envision AA quitting on his stool due to the schooling he'll get. I've always thought Ward was a bad match up for AA. Though with the way he looked against his last opponents, everything seems to be a bad match up.

 

He always has a punchers chance, but the blueprint is now there for all to see and if Carl can follow it im sure Ward will do the same.

 

He'll definitely be following the Dirrell gameplan rather than the Froch one (they were similar but obviously tailored to the specific fighter). Thing is though, he doesn't punch as hard as Dirrell and he fights on the inside a LOT more. He'll get tagged at some point.

Definitely favouring Ward massively in this one but imo Dirrell and Froch have given more convincing performances than what I expect from Ward.

 

I know boxers tend to use the old cliche that 1 punch is all they need to end a fight but 1 solid punch is genuinely all Abraham needs and he could put Ward to sleep. Dominant as Froch was against Abraham, he did get caught with a flurry in the 12th that seemed to hurt him. Could Ward take a shot like that ? Also, i think that Abraham might open up a little bit more against Ward due to Ward's lack of punching power. I thought Abraham seemed far more passive against Froch than he did against Dirrell. If you watch the Dirrell fight he actually landed some well timed punches when Dirrell was pulling away at times and he tried to rush at Dirrell more than he did Froch. Definetley not a formality this fight.

Yup! Sure is. Cause frankly if he started losing rounds to AA it would only be a matter of time before he lost his head....so basically he gets a UD, corner stoppage, or gets knocked the **** out. Unless Ward does something really stupid like tries to man it out the way he did against Bika, I highly doubt this is going to be a competitive fight. That being said Ward does like to man it out and did get caught by bika acouple of times. He gets caught by AA and he'll end up on his ass looking up.

He had a better puncher's chance against Froch to be honest (whose chin I consider slightly more suspect than Ward's - and who has underrated outboxing skills but nothing even close to Ward's level) and look where that got him.

Abraham isn't an adapter, either. Even back when I liked him (before all his classless sore loser crap), he always just seemed dumb.

 

I hear ya man but Abarham is desperate and that makes him very dangerous. Who knows how lightly Ward might be taking him given Abraham's recent outings? I expect Ward to outbox him but he has to be extremely careful not to get caught.

 

Ward will win 2160 seconds of the fight without breaking a sweat.

 

IMHO both Dirrell and Froch have faster feet than Ward. Now that doesn't mean he couldn't be either man, but he doesn't move quite as well. So if Abraham doesn't freeze up? He could connect.

After watching the Abraham fight I was amazed that Froch was able to track Dirrell down and actually make a fight out of it. It upped my respect for both men.

 

Ward might be the best-prepared boxer shy of FMJ.

Unlike FMJ, he scouts every opponent well in advance and watches fight tape religiously.

He is a smart dude...I just don't see him coming in all cocky and pulling some dumbass Campbell-Peden **** (which is seriously the only way I can see Abraham hurting him).

Abraham's desperation just isn't going to elevate him when he doesn't have much of a fundamental base to fall back on. He could literally be fighting for his life...and he would die.

This will be Ward's most dominant televised performance to date. That gets an IB guarantee. :deal
