Saul "El Canelo" Alvarez challenges Juan Manuel Marquez to fight him next

Because he has the personality of a stick...and he came up during a time when Morales and Barrera were carrying the torch for Mexican boxing. The same reason why JLC wasn't as adored by the Mexican fans.

 

It's what fighters do in the ring that counts the most. Pac barely speaks English yet Americans love him. You think many people care about what comes out of his mouth? They just want to see him fight in the ring. JMM definitely has a fan friendly style yet an alleged cheater like Margarito, a guy who will likely never be an ATG, has a bigger fanbase. Go figure.

It seems it was Marquez that instigated this challenge, but did so, by insulting Canelo, to make Canelo issue the first challenge.

Marquez is a smart man, and played a mind trick on Canelo, so as to make Canelo make the first challenge.

Now Marquez will wait for Canelo to win that 154lbs title, and soon afterwards JMM will come out in public and say "I accept Canelo's challenge", then JMM will beat Canelo for Canelo's 154lbs title, and JMM will be the 1st Mexican to win a 4th world divisional title, unless EM, Soto, MAB win their 4t before him, but either way, JMM could always come down to 140lbs or 147lbs and claim a 5th divisonal world title, and then seal his career pro record, by claiming a 6th divisonal world title in the other divison.

as for, Humberto Soto, Soto can KO both Marquez and Canelo, back to back.
This is why JMM has ducked Soto since 2007, and choose to fight Soto's "leftover"-Rocky Juarez, juat like MAB also did.
JMM is too scared to try to unify his 135lbs belt with Soto's other 135lbs belt.
In an interview, the ESPN crew asked JMM about fighting Soto, and JMM changed the subject.

Last year, MAB was given a shot at his 4th world title dream shot, the WBC Lighwteight title, but turned it down, cause he was scared to fight Soto.
the same went for EM, he too turned down a shot at Soto's title.

That WBC title that both MAB and EM turned down, was vacant title won by Soto, cause the then champion, Edwin Valero was to scared to defend it against Soto.

and Canelo is popular hype-job with a suspect chin, that Soto can easily crack.
If an old Jose Cotto nailed and wobbled Canelo, what do you thing a sharp-shooter like Soto would do?
Canelo has had to be overprotected with fights against aged N'Dou, Baldomir, etc.

 

As in any country anywhere, in order to get noticed and have appeal with the masses, you have to go through a hype process.

Juan Manuel Marquez along with any of Nacho's fighters have always done their talking in the ring, and in this day and age, thats not good enough for the media.

The media loves it when the fighter praises himself and disses others.
What do you think happened for MAB and Morales to gain noteriety with the masses?????

Exactly, they praised themselves, and dissed the other.
There feud more than their actual boxing in the ring is what media scribes wrote about.



Canelo may turn out to a legit hype and great fighter.
.....but at the moment he's not the proven product and yet with the casual fan in Mexico, the masses both men and women love him.

It helps as well that Canelo is hard to miss in a crowd.
There are'nt too many redheads in Mexico!



Let me put it this way though. Its not like Marquez is disliked in Mexico, in fact he's liked and respected.
The boxing fan of which there are plenty in Mexico. There is probably more a % per capita in Mexico than in any other country, they love, respect, and know Marquez was the fighter that handled and beat Pacquiao.

The boxing fan loves Marquez, but the masses which is the casual fan dont really care one way or the other.

With Canelo and the hype machine, the masses love him and want to see him accomplish great things in his sport.

 

Pacquiao has the destroyer style that fans love......and currently he does speak english just fine.

I will say this about Pacquiao and hyping himself.
Its not coming out of Pacquiao's mouth himself, but thats what.Freddie Roach does in that camp.

Freddie Roach is the guy that does all the bravado talk for Pacquiao that is self hyping.

IF it was'nt for Roach hyping doing the talking with hyping Pacquiao and dissing everyone else, believe me the media would'nt have quite the same appeal to cover Pacquiao which would mean Pacquiao would recieve less headlines in the news.

 

This is a shame I was a Canelo fan/believer.:-(

Yea this kid needs to learn to handle criticism better. Instead of just shrugging it off he takes it personal. Jmm is not a ww but canelo is no floyd or pacman. Dinamita es mucho colmillo para ti muchacho.

 

Canelo is still young and I believe with time will come to his senses and realize that what Marquez and Nacho voiced was not anything personal against him........

Marquez, Nacho and co........even JC Chavez who was a voice and has an interest to match his son with Canelo, all agreed that Sulaiman's antics and who he choses to fight for his WBC titles are'nt on the level.

The criticism was aimed at Sulaiman, and Canelo took it they were bashing him.
