The first round is now complete, thanks for all those who have participated; the results are on the link below: http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=291257 It has been mentioned that perhaps some people are unaware of the twist in this tournament (i.e. Queensberry Rules linear champs, fighting under LPR). So for the first fight in the second round I have not posted a poll, but will be asking people to post their thoughts (over the next 48 hours) on Joe Louis verses Evander Holyfield under London Prize rules. Of course there clearly are no right or wrong opinions, on a pretty far out concept, but I would ask that you show you recognize the LPR aspect in your response. Apologies for being a little patronzing.
This is one where I honestly don't know. Either could theoreticaly have the edge, depending on how they adapted to the different ruleset. If we credit Louis with better stamina then that might just be a deciding factor.
This is what I thought as well. Also, like I said before, better fencing, counterpunching, and body punching helps JL out here.
i will pick louis... great combinations, great finisher, very accurate... evander had lion heart, very good stamina, great chin... but still i pick louis
Yes but Holy only started using his head when he became older & flat-footed, this coincided with him having less stamina through ageing. I'd rather take a young Holy with greater stamina into a LPR fight, besides he always had sharp elbows...
I forgot to mention that i pick Holy, because his great durability, endurance & skillful use of dirty tactics.
