Is Andre Ward outpointing Arthur Abraham just a foregone conclusion at this stage?

Just because I don't like watching someone do chess in the ring that I don't appreciate it. I know there is art to it.

WTF is ESB now? Everybody has to conform to one set of standard, one kind of fighter? Otherwise, everybody is a fan of Mayweather. Idiot.

I refuse to enjoy some fighters because of personal reason - they bore me. Some disciple of sweet science can be exciting too - those I watch.

 

I reckon theres a good chance this fight doesnt happen, it definitely won't happen in Oakland and there might be problems agreeing on a more neutral venue. Sauerland might try and use it as an excuse to escape Abrahams SMW nightmare, who knows.

If it does happen this is a dangerous fight for Ward. People seem to forget when AA started letting his hands go against Dirrell in the later rounds he was landing some big shots, and Andre Dirrell is a lot harder to hit than Ward. Dirrell took the easy way out knowing there was a good chance he was getting knocked out in those last two rounds. Plus I can't see Ward following Froch's gameplan somehow, he likes to get inside too much.

I still make Ward favorite but you'd be a mug to write AA off completely

Abraham's only chance is a punchers chance. Forgone conclusion? No. Extremely likely? Yes.

 

Yep. Only way Ward could lose this fight, IMO, is if he is foolish enough to trade with AA. There is no reason to think Ward will do that.

Froch put out a perfect blueprint, and if Froch can follow it, I can't see why Ward wouldn't be able do the same.

Couldn't agree more. Froch's chin seems shakier than Ward's and Ward is more capable of outboxing Abraham.

Any given Abraham fight is 99% boring, until he lands a big shot on a stationary target (that isn't in the act of throwing punches at him).

Abraham is NOT a particularly exciting fighter. He isn't a chess-player either. Strategically, he's something of a moron. He is no Brandon Rios either, however. He's a plodding blocker - like Clottey but with an even lower workrate. He looks to land one big punch late in fights. It's maybe the least exciting style in all of boxing.

 

Did I ever say that Rios and all the other fighters you mentioned are unskilled or have no science? And since when is Andre Ward a purely defensive fighter? He brings quite a bit of pressure, actually. He's not a knockout puncher, and neither is Tim Bradley, but he can outmaneuver his opponent on almost any level to win. THAT is exciting to me....Someone trying to win in a mano a mano contest, no matter how hey choose to do it. Risk-taking is good, I appreciate it. But I also appreciate a fighter being on such a different level than another that he doesn't need to do so... If he doesn't need to take extra punishment to conclusively bring the ruckus I don't care.

Good competitive fights are entertaining to me.
