Regardless of what was said at a later age, Growing up, Jack Johnson was one of Archie Moore's heroes. "One day he came down to the junior high school I was going to. He singled me out of a class of boys who were boxing. And he said, 'you'll make it....you'll make it.'"
In Argentina, Moore knocked someone out. Juan Peron asked Moore, whome he was a big fan of, to stay and live there. He offered him an incredible amount of land, and a great place to live. He took heat for being friend with Peron, although he claimed he was treated better by Peron than most people in his own country due to his race. And although that was the case, Moore declined and maintained his home is in the states.
When Moore was training Foreman, during the build up for the Frazier fight, Frazier kept popping off at Foreman. It was getting to Foreman so Moore told George, than next time Joe starts poppin off, just look at him at say "SHUT UP!". So next time they met Fraizer was doing the usual, and Foreman said "SHUT UP!" Then Foreman says Frazier was shocked, and was a different Frazier all up until the fight.
That's easy to imagine... Moore was a poor black kid in the 1930s and had a love for boxing. Upon turning pro, not too many blacks had a truly successful career... And if they did, they all were broke later in life... WORD! MR.BILL:bbb:deal
