The whole big boned thing is usually just a bull**** reason for being overweight. I have a friend and everyone thought she was just big boned, despite being several stone overweight she was big all over and still had a discernable waist, so everyone thought she was just big boned. But it was all bollocks she started eating healthy and became a gym addict and lost tons of weight and eventually became a super fit, ripped fitness instructor. Solis isn't big boned he's just fat. Though he is clearly trying to address the issue in the lead up to the Vitali fight and I commend him for that as he clearly isn't there just looking for a payday and wants to win the title.
Great, he is no longer a "whale" class challenger, but down to the "large land mammal" class of Klitschko opponent.
Inclined to agree a bit. Obviously people can have larger or smaller frames, but the "Im big boned" is a classic fat persons excuse. Back to boxing, I'll believe Solis is in shape when I see the weigh in. At his height he shouldnt weigh more than 230, I dont care how "big boned" he is. 246 is still too heavy. An elite athlete is supposed to be in shape. I hate the James Toney excuse of "My skills are elite/Ive been a fighter for decades/weight dont make a boxer/I can still move/Im always slick". NO, you are ****ing fat and you are ****ing delusional if you think fighting while obese does not affect your boxing ability.
Solis used to be in great shape. Here he is at 24-years old, and around 200 lbs. This content is protected
its no good him losing weight during camp,he should have lost weight before camp and trained at the same weight all the way through camp, with him sparring and working at the same weight all the way through.
He's a small fat disgrace who can't be bothered to get into shape and won't even have a go in the fight. Your typical Klitschko opponent.
I like rooting for the underdog (Solis), and figured with his skills and experience he'd be a big challenge to VK. But after seeing them in that picture together, there's just too much of a height difference. Solis will possibly get regular 'low blow' calls w/ possible points deductions, and will struggle to consistently and effectively punch upwards for 12 rounds. I'll still watch the fight, but am not expecting an upset win from Solis. But I'll still hope for it.
With 6'3 Barret, so 6'1 looks right, it's difficult Judging heights against a Klitscko, since they are so much taller than everyone they face, and their heights themselves are a little hard to pin down. This content is protected Intereestingly enough there is about the same difference with Haye, maybe a little less, This content is protected I've said Haye wasn't 6'3 about 10 times on this site.
This is probably right. Even so if Solis is under 245 I expect him to give Vitali his toughest challenge in many years--perhaps the toughest fight since Corrie Sanders. Solis is a proven winner and won't give up ez. He's got more heart than Kevin Johnson and more skillz than Chris Arreola. Of course if Solis is 250+ he will gas out after 8-9 rounds and it definitely won't go the distance. Under 245, perhaps this fight could go the distance, though I doubt it.
