Lennox Lewis states why he didn't give Vlitali Klitschko a rematch.

This is an excellent point. He came back and redeemed himself under much more pressing circumstances with his losses to Rahman and McCall, as opposed to what he'd be faced with against a man who's ass he had already kicked, and in all likelihood, would have been better prepared the second time around.

 

Lennox screwed his fans out of a rematch of a decade (at least). For that alone he can go fck himself. Who cares what he had to say? It was what heavies needed at their worst. Lennox running from Vitali (I don't blame him, Vitali is one scary dude), Mayweather-Pac doing their little ego dance, Wlad and Haye going through their ****, all that kills boxing.

 

Lewis, open V.Klit face up and would have permit blinded him had the fight continue. Lewis, won get over it haters.

Does'nt take a word analyst to break down whats going through Lewis' mindset when he said that......

Common sense would tell you that if Lewis really thought he did'nt train proper and was at his worst for Vitali, the rematch would have happend.

A common sense reason to bow out and leave the sport is in the knowing that you cant prepare yourself much better than you already did........


People forget and some people just want to ignore, that Lewis was supposed to have fought Kirk Johnson at Staples Center.
Kirk Johnson pulled out with an injury, and Vitali Klitchko filled on on only two weeks notice.

Lennox Lewis had a full training camp, it was actually Vitali who did'nt get the benefit of a full training camp to prepare for a Heavyweight Championship fight.

I have no doubt that Lewis took this into consideration when he made his decision to retire and not fight Vitali.


Lennox Lewis actually makes himself look bad when he states that Vitali could'nt beat him on his worst night.
.....thats really something a weak minded insecure individual would say as an excuse.

A Lewis-Vitali rematch would have been huge and on PPV this time. There was alot of money that Lewis left on the table when he walked away from the Vitali rematch.
There is no way he would have done that had he really thought he trained poorly and Vitali had caught him on his worst night.
To the contrary, Lewis would have been salivating to get at Vitali and then hang up the gloves with a proper and not controversial victory over him.

 

How do you figure? The fight was in June. Vitali healed his cuts and was back in the ring in December against Lewis' original opponent Kirk Johnson and destroyed him. Lennox could have easily taken that spot. He would still be 38 and have had plenty of time to prepare.

 

He should've fought him again...it would've been huge. But I don't blame him for not wanting to go through another camp. He'd been fighting quite infrequently anyway.

But, looking back, and considering the force Vitali turned out to be, what a treat it was for these two monsters to face off, if only once. Hasn't happened since.

What is embarassing is this Klitard idea that a challenger who has failed has the right to demand an immediate rematch. When did that idea come about?

To be the champ you have to beat the champ - fail and go back to the queue and earn your stripes for another shot. :deal

 

Vitali made Lewis fight from a defensive stance which I don't recall he had to do often before. That's what took away power and explosiveness. There is no comparison because it hasn't happened before he fought Vitali. When was the last time Lewis was trailing on the cards in the fight?

Rahman, McCall, Briggs: Lewis got careless and that's the reason he got hurt. He was not outboxed by either of them.
