Agreed. He had to fight Ruiz, and Audley was easy money, not an alternative because he was scared.

I think Vitali at this stage would eat a hell of a lot of clean punches, call me crazy but i think it'd be a ruiz style beating, he uses head movement to dodge punches, which works against fat plodders he's been fighting, but would be disasterous against haye. and if haye focussed on the body i think he could take vitali out shockingly early

I think in Haye's head he is thinking that it wont go the distance so who could he take out first IF he has the chance and that would be Wlad.

I think that Haye could ignite this division is he actually wanted to.

I think it would be a ruiz style beating the only problem is Haye's chin but he does have great head movement just always keeps his hands low which for his style is not always a bad thing and he like to counter.

Haye won't notice it and even if he did its a small price to pay for earning a few more million.

i agree Vitali is the easier fight. it would be a cross between ruiz, mormeck and valuev fights.

yeah i could see that, a slower, more prolonged ruiz style beating over 12 rounds with the occasional spot of bother seems about right.

 

Haye is not a HUGE puncher by any means. That is complete hyperbole and utter tosh.

Danny Williams says Haye punches like he has bricks in his fists.

Thats good enough evidence for me - coming from a guy who actually has taken Hayes punches and knows Hayes power from personal experience.

However - Williams says the hardest punchers he has been in with is Vitali Klitshcko and Mike Tyson.

 

Haye has an ok chance and i say that in comparison to recent challengers but im sceptical

Haye's counter punching style will do him absolutely no favours against Wlad with a massive height and reach advantage. Wlad doesnt like aggression and not just throwing big punches effective aggression. In the 1st round of the second Peter fight Peter was winging punches in early and was close enough to do some damage and on the inside Wlad seemed fairly unnerved for a short period of time and hun his chin up in the air. You need to make Wlad uncomfortable he isnt used to fighting on the inside and i think psychologically he is wary once a fighter is closer than his ramrod jabs length away

Sadly Haye isnt an aggressive fighter pressure fighter nor is he an inside fighter. What Haye will do in this fight is rush in slipping the jab and try and throw bombs hoping they will connect. He cant afford to sustain attacks as it will tire him out as Haye has fairly poor stamina. He wil do this a few times a round and the rest of the time will dance around the ring avoiding taking punishment from Wlads jab.

I envision two outcomes Haye lands the wonder shot Wlad goes down but gets up he has been able to get up from most of his knockdowns. Haye's questionable finishing comes into play if he can land something decent again he might finish him if not Wlad could surivive. The other scenario is that Wlad is able to resist Hayes early attacks and Haye get more and more tired towards the later rounds and Wlad starts picking him off with the jab and then lands the big right hand and puts a tired Haye out of his misery

I agree with your logic GazOC - and no doubt you are right.

Go on a nice little gravy train first -

Valuev - £3 million.
Ruiz - £3 million.
Harrison - £5 million.

Dinner with the champ evenings / appearances on TV shows - Paul O Grady - Graham Norton - Jonathan Ross - Public appearances / signings / magazine sales / reality tv show / sponsers other outside of the ring commerical stuff - £3 million.

Then cash in - with the big money / big risk fight - toward the end.

But surely if he was confident - why not just take the big fight early on - ? and win all them belts - call himself undisputed and really milk it for all its worth...............

Because he doubts he can do - he thinks he might be able to beat Wlad - but the risk is too big.

So he just stayed in his comfort zone - making easy money - instead of really shooting for the big glory.

Smart man - but by no means a man confident of winning all the belts.

Did Mike Tyson rest on his laurels - when he won the WBC Heavyweight title - ? - no he did not - he went straight after the other two champions and unfied all the belts - then he went after the linear champion and crushed him too - and was a mega star by the time he was 23 years old.

He didnt have to delay anything - because Tyson and his people knew they were good enough to rule the division.
