That's what I'm thinkin'. Holmes looks much more fluid and speedy than anybody out there these days. I didn't watch many Holmes fights when I was a kid cause' I didn't appreciate the 'science' part of the 'sweet science' like I later learned to, but looking at that video reminds me how slick Holmes was. He'd box rings around Wlad for 10 rounds or so and then turn up the heat once Vlad tired out. Wlad's only chance would be to grab Larry and lay his heavier body on him for most of the fight (he'd have to have a cooperative ref) so Holmes would be just as tired in the later rounds. Even then Larry probably wins a decision...

Watch any heavyweight from the early 90's to see how absolutely awful the heavyweight division is now. These guys are fighting on in a completely different gear.

Wlad isn't 5" taller than Wlad. In w recent pic of them together, they look very similar in height. I don't think there's 2" between them.

Anyway, I'd pick Holmes by stoppage. I think Wlad would be outjabbed and I don't know if he has a Plan-B as everything he does is based around the jab. I think everyones prediction should be the same as who they think has the best jab, as it would decide this fight. If you think that's Holmes, you have to side with him. If you think that's Wlad, you have to aide with him too.

The Klitchko size is always tough for the earlier era heavyweights, even if the guy is a great like Larry Holmes. Holmes was much greater than Klitchko, but the size of Vlad could be a problem. But still Vlad's chin could not hold up to Larry's right hands. Vlad's brother Vitali would be a whole different story for Larry. I think Vitali wins. If you make Larry the same size as Vitali than Larry wins, but both guys how they were in height and weight when they were prime and Vitali beats Larry and Vlad losses to Larry.

    Post is just right.

Name one ATG would have lost the rematch to Michael ****ing Spinks?

That loss will forever taint Holmes' career.

I suppose you're going to ignore that the decision in the rematch with Spinks is one of the most disputed decisions in boxing history.

When was the last time either faced a boxer on Holmes level? Never. The best they faced was a faded 37 year old Lennox Lewis, who stopped Vitali. Holmes has superior boxing skills and chin to Lennox, a better jab, and better footwork.

Holmes was a complete boxer, all he lacked was exceptional power. Wlad is not a complete boxer, and lacks the real durability and intangibles when under pressure, that's why he's been beat 3 times by inferior fighters to himself. He's never even faced someone who's actually better than him all-round.

Holmes is a supremely skilled, all-round, die-hard ATG. Wlad is a big, dangerous but flawed title-holder who has buckled several times when the pressure is on and the chips are down.
