Who to match Canelo with

How about a 154 fighter, since he's fought there for past 5 fights and will be a champion? Angulo, Rhodes, Cotto, Margarito, Cintron..any of them will do nicely

 

@ the thought of Golden Boy letting Canelo fight Lara.

When he (Lara) fights someone worth repeating maybe one of the networks besides ESPN might put something behind him.

Good, but risking it vs any solid ww or jmw. Theyll put him a bulema, spinks, foreman,santos, delarosa,kind of fighter. Maybe mora down the line, but forget about jr its a ko waiting to happen vs canelo. But when he turns 24-25 he better be ready and not expect any special treatment. These young kids that think they are ready never are. Wrong move in giving him a belt he doesnt deserve now the pressure is on him.

 

Now that i think of it. Canelo has actually faced much better opposition and he is less experienced and younger than Lara.....

 

Well, Lara entered the pros just a couple of years ago.

Anyway, I think right now Canelo is not ready for Lara, it would probably not be good for his career.

What about Brewer? Grady Brewer. Lara fought him, and it was NOT an easy fight. Maybe Brewer could be a good fight for Canelo.

Incidentally if Alvarez cannot outbox the shot Margarito even at this stage of his career , it really says a lot about his potential , Margarito stunk the joint out in his 1 other fight @54 other than Pacquiao , and he was viciously beaten by Pacquiao , he's shot !!!!

That said , even the shot Tony has a great chance of beating Cotto again (a weight class Cotto has absolutley no business fighting at) , and if he does beat Cotto and GB can secure Alvarez Margarito IMO it would be a master stroke from them !!!

That is the problem, none of the prospect will want to fight a high risk kind of fighter like Lara, Vanes was talking crap and Lara ask him to fight him, he never mention Lara again, I think once and if Lara gets a Belt others prospects will b inclined to fight him, Laras ppl are talking about Trout.

 

I don't think anyone in his right mind would say so.
