Who do you think that the Peek-a-boo Style fit better, on Patterson or Tyson They were about 2in. difference, but Patterson would come in at around 180 or 190, while Tyson in his early career would come in at 205 or 211, both same reach Tyson - shorter(by 2 ins.) stocky, fast, & good power.....71in. reach Patterson - Lean, lighting fast, with a Pop in his punches.....71in. reach
Patterson, his handspeed when he was hooking in full flow was ridiculous, so strict peek a boo i would say him, Tyson was great technically and a fine counterpuncher so therefore can work as a combo puncher, aggressing with body shots etc, looking for openings. Patterson might as well just jump at people with rapid assaults, because he's so fast it works perfectly for him. If there was a cruiserweight back then it wouldda been a rap
Well his sub-200lb weight has something to do with it, i mean obviously he's going to be a bit faster than Tyson, he didn't weigh 220lbs!
Tyson, because he was a bigger puncher and quicker. The peekaboo causes the fighter to square up and throw wide punches. A guy who doesnt have power to begin with, is not going to benefit from that kind of fighting style. Patterson used the style well, but Tyson with his physical attributes, speed, stubby arms and power benefitted from it the most.
Easily Tyson. Patterson lacked the power, durability, and ferocity, even if he were a bit more guided and technically correct. Patterson generally picked you apart with combinations, Tyson bulldozed you with them.
I love watching both, Patterson and young Tyson but I like Patterson more overall. More pleasing to my eye. But it´s by a **** hair.
of course tyson had more power, principally because patterson was not even a hw, but pfp he had great power. he did not lack of power.
I never said he did, I said he wasn't as good as Tyson at employing the style for a combination of the factors I named. Next.
Tyson was built for that style. Thats why Cus favoured him so much, he was the perfect specimen to be moulded by Cus, in the style that he taught.
I like that Patterson incorporates a little more standup boxing in his version(gives him some versatility), but prime for prime Tyson is the more devastating operator here, maybe a bit slower but the leverage is just incredible.
