It has to be Dempsey, against Sharkey and Tunney ?
I didn't know the crowds were quite that big though.

I know this isn't the answer, but it kind of show what an amazing number a buck 55 is for two consecutive fights. Chavez fought Greg Haugen in Azteca Stadium in front of a crazy number like 115,000. Even with that, the other fight would've had to have been a very large arena, if not another stadium fight.

Jack Dempsey and Jack Sharkey draw between 75,000-80,000 and Dempsey and Gene Tunney drew approx. 104,943, depending on the source. Even if you add up the lower numbers, Dempseey fought in front of nearly 180,000 people in 2 months.

Luis Firpo fought Jess Willard in front of 70,000 or 80,000 people on July 12, 1923 and then fought Dempsey in front of 82,000 on September 14, 1923.

Well it takes two to fight, so if Dempsey fought in a huge statium so did Tunney. Sorry just read the last part of that about never being champ.

Yes C, you got there fustess with the mostess. I had in mind Luis AngelFirpo, who late May,1923 kod Jack Mclauffe in front of 80,000 fans and then fought Jess Willard in July,1923 with the attendance of 75000 to 80,000 fans..

You had to know it was around that era..hard to believe how big boxing actually was at the time. I heard Dempsey made multiple times the money Babe Ruth made.

Henry, You are of course correct, but i omitted 'Never A Champion" in my question. I had in mind Luis Firpo who was such an attraction that he fought
Jack Mcauliffe in late May,1923 in front of 80,000 spectators, and two months later kod Jess Willard before a crowd of 75,000-80,000 fans, though never a champion. My ommission ,but you are still the champ...:good
