Manipulative, but uneffective. Anytime he fought in the UK was a home fight. Unless he was fighting against a more popular UK fighter. Even so..... He's young. And has a long way to go to match Calzaghe in longevity and achievement. Fighting the majority of one's fights in the US comes with less backlash, and less negativity than fighting the majority of one's fights in the UK. It's just the way it is. When was the last time you heard "___________ (insert fighter's name) never came to England to fight, so he never fought the best." And it's no knock on the UK. It is what it is. JC hardly left the UK in his prime and when he did it was to rematch Veit after KOing him in 1 round.
Okay, I get it, some people think Ward would beat Calzaghe. I disagree but thats cool. What will happen though, is Froch will beat Ward and Ward will become the new Lacy. Lacy was a mini Tyson, he was the future. He had beat good fighters easily. In 2 years time you'll be falling over yourselves to discredit Wards career up to now to help you discredit other fighters.
Speed, footwork, adaptability are negligable. There is no discernable difference in my opinion. I ad that Calzaghe can only throw punches quickly when he slaps, and Ward can't crack and egg, so they nullify each other in that category. Calzaghe has been down more than Ward has, neither man has been KO'd. How do you know Calzaghe had a better chin? Ward would beat a prime Calzaghe. Also Ward beat Kessler easier than Calzaghe did.
"Would have" torn...those are the key words here. "Woulda, shoulda, coulda" is the story of Calzaghe's career. The bottom line is, he didn't.
