My take on the tactics on this fight. In my opinion there is no way Haye win this fight on points so he shouldn't try and go for the KO right from the opening bell, with a much, much higher punch output he normally does and if he doesn't get the KO in the first 3 rounds he should only focus on getting in a lucky punch. If Haye gets in a good shot he should keep at it and keeping focussed on producing the right punch. Wlad should start the first couple of rounds entirely focussing on countering any Haye attack hard and vicous, keeping him at bay with the jab. If the fight isn't over in about 3 rounds use the standard method of pressuring with the jab and changing it off with straight rights and an occasional left hook. Don't go for the KO until Haye is seriously hurt (if so just swing away and forget about doing it fancy) or when Manny threatens to kill him inbetween rounds. This content is protected 1) Try to bumrush Wlad, pressure and punching power are key to beat him. All other methods will fail. 2) Keep at it if you get him in trouble and keep calm, avoid wild swinging. 3) Watch out for Wlad's right and left hook, it can send him to sleep in an instant. 4) Constant punch output, at least 50-60 punches a round. 5) Keep his defence up, don't rely on his speed to make Wald miss. This content is protected 1) Fight like any of his HW titlebouts, cause he's garanteed to lose. 2) Stay on the backfoot and potshot (see point 1). 3) Step back or start swinging wild after hitting Wlad with a good shot (also see point 1). 4) Let Wlad catch his rhythm and come in his comfort zone. 5) Neglect his defence, Wlad hits very hard. This content is protected 1) The first 2/3 rounds only focus at the counter and the jab, he will win the rounds anyway. 2) Stay behind the jab and pressure Haye with it, firering more rights than usual. 3) Keep using the same routine over and over again, until Manny gets upset and starts to hit him. 4) If he hurts or knocks Haye down, forget technic and swing away! 5) Watch out for Haye's looping right hand, and stay calm if you get hit. 6) Go headhunting, forget the body. This content is protected 1) Try to KO Haye early, no matter how much the fans want it, it might work but it's too dangerous. 2) Start right out with the usual routine of chasing and jabbing, first few rounds are the most dangerous. 3) Panic when getting hurt or knocked down, Haye might not even follow up on it. 4) Trying to do anything new or fancy, there's where Chisora bouts are for. 5) Looking for the right shot when Haye is in trouble, you might let him off the hook that way. If we reduce the whole thing to the tools of the two guys i have to say, that in every departement Klitschko is better then Haye. Haye is quick but far from flawless. Klitschko via TKO. If early or late depends on him.
i will put my phenominal esb prediction record on the line and say this fight will be an absoloute massacre. haye to violently ko vlad in 3 rounds.
50/50 fight IMO. If Haye lands and puts Wlad in trouble, he is as good a finisher as there is out there just now. Cold, calm, ruthless agression.
Wlad will put Haye sleep with his Jab and expose that Haye was typical British Glass Jawed clown like all their heavies ever.
I agree with your analysis. I doubt Haye has the stamina for this though. Haye boxes in spurts, pausing for a minute or two then punching a flurry here and a flurry there. Haye seems very wary of not overpacing himself and that results in a lower work-rate overall for him. Haye's plan is obviously to counter Wlad and shake his confidence early on. I just wonder: What if this doesn't work? I especially wonder why so many including Haye are so confident that Haye can easily counter "over" Wlad's jab? If anythign, you'd counter him over his straight right hand -- if you're a southpaw, like Sanders did. Unfortunately Haye isn't a southpaw. How exactly will Haye systematically outpuch Wlad without standing toe-to-toe with him like Brewster did?
When we saw Haye fight fearfully vs SNV we saw how he will fight v Wlad or Vitali - if his hand injury was part of his reason for fighting a little shy and not throwing a lot of right hands we'll see when this fight comes off. Haye wants Wlad and not Vitali becuase he sees Wlad as the weaker of the two - the softer target. Hes seen him KO'd and hurt/floored many times. But I really really dont see Haye fighting eiher brother with a lot of boldness and aggression. He knows they too can put him to sleep with one good shot and will be very very mobile and try n make himself a target that is hard to hit. I will root for Haye (as a fan) but I'm one that thinks the odds are stacked against him and he's got a moutain to climb here. So I give him a shot but I do see him as the underdog. Albeit a very live one.
Will be a borefest most likely, Wlad adopting an even more cautious approach than he usually does and Haye waiting for the perfect opportunity to get in range and land something big... which never happens. Tentative action throughout, Wlad wins on points, and Haye retires from the sport leaving behind a legacy of pure disappointment.
Wlad's jab is more of a range finder than actual shot most of the time! I expect a pop with a job but he leaves it out there so when he is in range he will fire the right! The problem for wlad is haye's speed and head movement. If wlad leaves that arm out there and haye is on his game he will slip it and land the right! one thing is for sure we will be seeing how good wlads chin really is in this fight.
Could very well play out that way. Though I'd think if Haye notices he's going nowhere he'd take more risk in round 7 or 8 and come out guns blazing, going down in flames rather than be slowly choked by Wlad's jab.
