What about the LuJaun Simon fight? That guy was living off an old Bronco McKart's left overs, literally!
I thought you'd have liked Andre Ward for this one, you know since he's a hometown hero much like 'Zaggers'
Abraham can't fight on the inside, or the outside. He is strictly a mid-range power puncher. That's his one and only dimension. Ward's feet are fast enough that AA has no chance of controlling the distance.
There is some merit to the argument; Ward is an infighter, and as was said, Abraham is restricted to mid-range slugging. Ward could keep his distance, but more likely than not he is going to smother and outpoint Abraham. Closing that distance, however, may allow Abraham the window to land a good shot. He can't fight backwards, so creating space for shots under or over the guard won't really come too often, but if he can go to Ward's body early and open up opportunities for the head as he moves in or out, he's got a chance. Ward is still favored to win, but his physical advantages and style don't lend themselves to AS clean a victory and outboxing like Dirrel's versatile mobility or Froch's awkward length and power did. Bit more than a puncher's chance is what I'd give him.
Yes and No. Yes, AA is (was? Maybe he is now. And Boo would say he was never that good to begin with) not over-matched. No, he's not going to win against Ward. Reason is that AA is not the same he was before the Dirrell fight. He seems to have lost his self-confidence and iron will. He can only be successful if he regains his self-confidence and is willing to take risks. If AA KO's Ward this would be a huge upset and a big surprise for me personally.
Ward is going to slap him silly. Look what dirrel did to him. Ward is about 10x the fighter dirrel is. Been sayin since ward won his gold medal he will be p4p#1. Ward via KO. Greatest inside fighter I have seen ever. Oh here is a gem. Look to see who called it and who didnt. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=104907&page=2 This thread is from 2008.
Bull****. Joe Calzaghe was a ducker and had no aspirations to be a 'fighter'. Ward is a 'fighter'. He will take on whoever, whenever. And he might actually be the one to retire with a perfect record, and not have everyone and their mother make fun of who they DIDNT fight. **** calzaghe, he was good, but not great.
Although I think that Ward is going to win - I cannot imagine him being as dominant as Froch was or Dirrell in the first half of the fight.
