Lets say its Froch Abraham 2 in the Supersix final. What can arthur do to change?

Lets say Abraham gets past Ward and Froch makes it through his tough fight with Glen johnson.

We get Froch-Abraham 2 in the final of the Supersix.

What could Abraham do differently to the first fight to try and win (even make it competitive).

Make it a fight for one. Froch fought the perfect fight but Arthur looked totally uninterested and Carl's boxing abilities caught him by surprise. IMO 2nd fight preparations would be completely different, different sparring partners and strategy, different approach. The one thing you could notice was AA's occasional sharp jap that snapped back Carl's head - put a quick right behind it, loosen up a box, there are plenty of holes to capitalize on. Get rid of the shell style and counterpunch - last rounds vs. Taylor AA dropped his hands and timed Taylor pretty good, THAT fight showed the most versatile Abraham we've seen, get back to what worked. Etc.

 

when you get exposed as shockingly as that, you are north of 30 and you only have one real fight in between, there isn't a lot you can do.

People will say he needed to attack more, but the fact is he was scared to, because froch's power was hurting him badly, even through his guard.

 

throw feints, get Froch to bring out his jab, then duck under and inside.

Every time Arthur threw a jab, Froch jabbed with him and landed. Arthur never did a single feint.

 

Every time I look back at that fight I spot another clever tactic from Froch. He was bending his waist slightly forward to take away AA's angle/opportunity for body shots, I don't remember him being caught with one of them.

 

He needs lateral movement and tons of self-confidence. Unfortunately he has neither. Also he needs to take risks in order to land something big on Froch.

I'd be really surprised if he gets past Ward, but I would much more surprised if he has more than a snowball's chance in hell against Froch. AA really looked scared and without a chance in that fight...

 

Froch has got arthur all ends up mentally now, im not sure the fight would different at all.

 

He needs determination and heart. Should ask if he could borrow some of Joe Frazier.

 

Abraham aint changing his style now it's too ingrtained him.

Besides, you guys just need to admit the better man won.

 

On that night? Yes, definitely!

 

He could show a bit of head movement for once in his boxing career!

 

I don't buy into this idea that Froch's very good gameplan and excecution kept Abrahamfrom being competitive. Major props to Froch and it's not his fault that Abraham was totally disinterested. But against Dirrell, who is faster and slicker than Froch, Abraham was also schooled for 7 - 8 rounds and then came on strong with a clear knockdown and a good KO chance if it hadn't been for the foul. He wasn't remotely close to even trying against Froch. Against Dirrell, he kept missing, kept trying until he landed.

 

Some initiative to get inside and throw and/or at least some effort to put a right hand on top of Froch's jab would be nice. He counters the jab, Froch at the least will have to be more careful about throwing it, which would in turn help Abraham get inside on Froch.
