IMO beating Haye with Haye retiring on the spot does very little to Wlad's legacy. Not saying Wlad has the win in his pocket already, he will have to perform his best game as usually.

Just saying: In 25 years, when people look at the boxing records, will they remember that a win over Haye has more weight than a win over Ibragimov?

Who could Wlad fight for the WBC title which puts him remotely close to the top 10?

    The quality just isn't there.

I think so, simply because Haye is a better fighter than Ibragimov ever was. Haye won't go down as a great fighter or one with a great legacy, but he will go down as one of the best cruiserweights of all-time who was incredibly fast and had knockout power. That's more significant than what Ibragimov will be remembered as, which is just a steady but unspectacular opponent.

Haye is bringing his strong Cruiserweight legacy to the table, which really should be enough I think to make it an excellent win. He comes up well short of Holyfield and Archie Moore, but he did more at Heavyweight than Spinks and Conn did prior to their title shots.

However, at HW? Absoutely right, think last time it came up I actually used the Sultan analogy whom he compares to. While Chambers, Chageav, Peter, Byrd, and even McCline all have much better resumes above 200 lbs.

Jack I agree without a doubt Haye is a better and more dangerous fighter than Ibragimov. No disagreement at all! Just wondering will arm-chair experts browsing boxrec agree with this in 25 years?

At the end of the day future experts will look at records, and they will see two somewhat similar records (Haye has more wins by stoppage obviously) and good amateur pedigrees in both Haye and Ibragimov. Both with relatively short pro careers, ending their careers very early on without testing themselves over a long period of time.

Surely they have a backup fighter ready to go, and hey, maybe it's Chisora?

As far as I understand, Chisora still didn't know about it when the thread here was already up. Or did he just play along and deals were already made? :think

Damn, I hate it when they decide things and neglect to notify me

Another good question is if Wlad beats Haye, will the WBA let Wlad have the belt?

Probably not, he gets the "Super" Championship instead and the "regular" one will become vacant again.
