In another post, you mentioned Larry Holmes and Joe Louis and correctly pointed out that a fighter can't help the division he fights in and that's true. However, Louis' and Holmes' eras were stronger, though still weak, they beat better fighters, especially Schmeling and Norton, and they didn't have the losses. Wlad hasn't beat any really good heavyweights yet, he has a few losses to awful opponents and he hasn't shown any clear improvement in his chin.

That said, we're probably only about half way through Wlad's era of dominance. I see no reason why he can't rule the division until around 2015 and I'd be surprised if he didn't rule even longer than that. Those years are hugely significant, so you could almost say "the best is yet to come". I think it could be. When Vitali steps aside, and I think he is hurting Wlad's legacy right now, and Wlad unifies all the belts and then dominates an era, his career will look completely different.

I think it's likely that Wlad will end his prime with a record of 70 wins and 3 losses. Regardless of what people think of his flaws, such as his chin, if he manages to rule for such a long period, their argument will go from "Wlad had a poor chin" to "Wlad had a poor chin but he was good enough to protect it". If Wlad has no 'great' opponent, he will eventually prove people wrong by beating a constant flow of 'good' opponents.

History won't look over a record like that. Vitali will go down as a Gerry Cooney-level fighter who managed to hold a belt in a weak era. Wlad will probably go down as an unlucky dominant champion, in that he was so much better than everyone else he faced, he didn't get chance to prove his greatness against one opponent.

The worry for Wlad though, is coming up against another Brewster or Sanders and losing. You can say "it's unlikely" and I'd agree, but it's not impossible. If it happens once, it can be put down to a fluke or one-off. If it happens twice, you could say he was very unlucky. If three losses occur, there's a problem but not necessarily a decisive one. If four losses occur, that may be the tipping point and Wlad's resume will take a huge nosedive if the fourth opponent is of the same calibre as Sanders, Purrity and Brewster.

I don't think that's likely now though. Wlad is a much more 'solid' fighter and less vulnerable. Legacies aren't built on what we "think" though, the fighter needs to prove it. Wlad has done well proving it so far and he needs to carry on doing the same. He can and he should...the question is whether he will. If he does, he'll end up just outside the top 15, unless a great opponent comes along.

For the sake of this post, I assumed that Wlad will beat Haye should they fight, as you think that's what will happen.

It's definitely OFF. Wladimir has already given up the Arena date of April 30th. That pretty much seals the deal.

I don't know if it can be made, but what if Wlad moved the fight with Chisora to earlier date, so he has more time to prepare for Haye fight?

What if he loses his title to Chisora?
Haye wouldn't fight him withouth a title.
Vitali is a bad replacement because he could also lose to Solis in the meantime

When wlad signed for chisora it was lose lose. He was either ducking haye or fukin derek over. Atleast this way we get a unification fight. Derek should fight fury.

It is. Jack is a decent poster usually, especially when he's not talkin' about the Klitschkos................:yep

I was a bit harsh on him last night but I was halfway through a 12 pack and his posts seemed more concerned about Chisora getting stiffed rather than the fight we all really want to see.

Honestly all I see from Jack is a guy with boxing knowledge who's blinded by hate and tries to fob pretentiously 'polite' criticism as reasonable arguments but i didn't mind his last post too much that was quiite reasonable.

OK, so if the fight with Chisora is cancelled, then why not move the VK/Haye fight to an earlier date, like May or June? Why have to wait til July? It's ridiculous. Help the godamn boxing fans out!

Posters that put some thoughts in their argumentation usually offers a better reading then the whole bunch of "Wlad/Haye/Ward//My mum/Whoever is a ***** and you all drink cum"-posters. Jack beeing one, but for what ever reason, at the precise moment when someone write "Klitschko" he firmy stop making sense. The K'brothers are seen as dull, but for what ever reason everyone seem to have a strong opinion about them.

I don't know about June, but May is full with televized events - the soccer championship, the Eurovision song contest, etc. etc. To much competition for such a big boxing event as this
