because it is inhouse and it would have brought up some interesting chances if foreman had won. Pac at 154,clottey,margarito,chavez jr etc. Arum is all about inhouse, I wouldnt be surprised if the winner of cotto vs marg fights chavez jr at 160 when he beats zbik.
I mean when you think about how flat footed Cotto used to be, how much movement Foreman uses, that he's longer and naturally bigger, before the fight whilst you felt the better fighter might win(Cotto), there was issues there to deal with that could of potentially been a problem, as it was, Cotto had the perfect game plan orchestrated by Manny Steward.
I felt this same way after the Margo was caught cheating. Bob stuck up for hima nd really looked like he didn't give two shits about Cotto. But then again Bob has always matched up Cotto well so idk.
I was suprised how good cotto looked in there I though foreman would have been capable to win rounds with movement and speed. Thats why I still have hope for coto and disagree with people who say he is shot, mayorga fight will be interesting because we might see a right hand in effect because he had surgery on his shoulder last year, also steward can take out some obvious flaws and come up with a good gameplan for miguel like he did vs foreman.
Stewart keeps talking about this surgery everytime he talks about Cotto. I think hes trying to improve Cotto's right hand. I hope he does.
Yeah I was bit hmm! when the fight was made, simply because of how tall Foreman is, how much movement he utilizes, how methodical Cotto is/was. However I think they key was, that he cut the ring off, pressured from behind the jab to stabilize Foreman's lateral movement. I thought Cotto fought the perfect fight to be honest, I was really impressed with his discipline, how he executed. Cotto is not shot imo, he might be a little less than what he was, but he's still an extremely good fighter imo. I say as long as Cotto stays on the jab, moves after getting off, hits Mayorga's body, utilizes the straight punches up the middle to beat Mayorga to the punch, tries to keep Mayorge in the middle of ring as much as possible, that he could neutralize Mayorga and take a decision. Mayorga will be dangerous for about 5 rounds imo, but he will get tired in the second half the fight, so Cotto's bodywork could be telling, he just needs to avoid that loopy right hand, stay disciplined, and it should be routine. Cant rule out Mayorga cause he can punch, but I think Cotto will win.
If Mayorga and Zab Judah both win their fights, I propose we give them chains and pipes and let them beat each other to death, cause I am "done" with both of their tired irrelevant asses!
It'll say a lot about emmanuel if he decides to sign for this fight. Enough with the stupid and ignorant minority who can't speak English act, it wouldn't be able to protect his AZZ if he agreed to this fight.
Oh yeah because Oscar De La Hoya and Don King care so much about true boxing fans right. DLH was the guy who started the Top Rank, Golden Boy war.
Arum always makes sure that no matter the outcome of any of the fights on his cards, he has a plan B. If Cotto loses, not only will he make Manny-Mayorga, but Cotto-Margarito can still be made. Arum never loses.
You guys are ****ING stupid... Mayorga is with Don King, it's just a simple way of him saying that himself and Don King will work together and make fights happen.. Cue in Floyd, which is why Arum says the fight will get made if Mayweather signs with King.... Because these guys go way back and have a good working relationship... read between the ****ing lines assholes.. and if for some strange turn of events Mayorga whoops Cotto, then yes he puts himself on the long list of potential Manny opponents..
