This fight was signed long before it was sanctioned by the WBC for it's title on the behest of Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy.

Like all of Alvarez's previous 5 or so fights, it was signed to be at 150, with Hatton being a welter. The WBC decided to change the limit back to 154 a week out from the fight. It should be obvious they only did so because Alvarez was not going to make weight.

This fight is epitome of farcical. It should never have been sanctioned for a title fight.

The title being on the line should negate all preceding "agreements".

FFS, there are already enough weight divisions without all this stupid in-between bull****.

    Enough of this.

If you want to test your mettle by moving up to face bigger fighters, go the full ****ing monty and let your opponent weigh in up to the conventional limit in the class you're moving up to. People like Pacquiao and Danny Green are setting really horrible precedents for the near and maybe distant future of the sport.

Dude...blame the WBC for trying to cash in on this. The fight weight was set before. Contracts signed.

Even taking the WBC title out of the mix, it's ridiculous.

It's either a ****ing welterweight or a light middleweight fight.

There's no such thing as a 150 lb division.

It's simple; you fight at 154 for a 154 pound title. Anything else is B.S.

I won't consider Alvarez a legit champ until he beats Angulo or Cintron at 154.
That is if he gets past Hatton.
    Which i hope doesn't happen.

Dude...it's nothing to get upset about. It FITS within the definition of the Jr MW division. The belt is nothing. Don't make it into something if we all agree most belts are ****.

People are getting upset with Alvarez for "not making weight" - that's what I take exception to

He abso-****ing-lutely made weight for a LMW title fight, whether it's the IBF, the NABF, the Ring, or the Quaker State title.

    **** agreements.

Of course. So many people get their undies in a bind over mere titlists. Who gives a **** about them. They aren't nothing more then contenders with a belt. NO ONE will call Alvarez the JrMW world champ just as no one called Pac that.

Kermit would 'leap' out of the ring again. I'd like to see him vs Angulo though.

And they should. Alvarez agreed to make 150. He didn't. Either blame him or his trainer for not getting him properly prepared. The belt means nothing.

He will however officially become the youngest jr middleweight champ in history, surpassing Vargas's feat.

Oh well. :conf That agreement is meaningless, as far as I'm concerned.

Agreements like that have no place whatsoever in boxing.

Maybe, but history will place it into the correct context. :deal
