Apparently there's a limit to what Alvarez can weigh on fight-night....

This has come from Gareth Williams, chief of Hatton promotions.

Is that even legal? In any case, it's all kinds of ****ing disgusting and downright dangerous. Seriously, **** what boxing is turning into.

That's shite. Hatton took the chance to fight for the vacant title at 154lbs. The weight limit should be 154lbs, and no limit on fight night weight.

Yeah the limit is 160 lbs, if it is written into the contract then it is binding.

This is what mnny pacquiao had oscar, and cotto do.

Its not healthy at the end of the day, unfortunately someone will have to be seriously injured for it to cease and become void in future negotiation contracts.

160? That's doubtful. But if it's in fact true, Alvarez will lose tonight.

if a catch weight is being used, a maximum weight is reasonable in that it's not a straight up title fight but a contrived one.

having said that yes, i feel it's dangerous to but it's been done before and it's up to alvarez to recognize that going into the fight. if it's too dangerous to come into the fight drained, his team and physicians should stop it

    Whys it doubtful?

Im pretty sure thats what i read on a rival website.

Plus i cant see alvarez losing to matt hatton even if he is weight drained, thats how poor an opponent for a world title fight hatton is.

Hatton isnt even the best Welterweight in manchester never mind Europe.

Infact their are many amatuers that would make him look like the journeyman he is.

Primarily, although it's also another totally unnecessary performance-affecting variable that the sport doesn't really need.

Surely mad matt hatton being at a possible huge weight (never mind skill) dsiaparity doesnt count as effecting his performance, hes not the touted prospect so its okay to mess with him

same old story with boxing fans , its a TRAVESTY when former greats like evander get KOed or whatever but it joe schmo takes 100 kos no one blinks an eye lid:yep

but alvarez is clearly bigger than him and can potentially blow up 20 (effective) pounds of muscle and water giving him a MASSIVE size difference over hatton by fight night. hatton simply cannot put on that kind of weight which is also dangerous
