Hopkins got worse as the Calzaghe fight went on.

As anyone who has studied Hopkins's career knows, his peak was 1997-2001. That when he turned in his all-round best performances (Johnson in 97, Echols II in 00, Trinidad in 01). Even by the Eastman and Oscar fights in 2003-4, it was apparent that age had blunted Hopkins. His reservoir of skills and craftiness mean he can still compete effectively at world level even now, but he is a clearly, clearly declined force from his absolute peak. That's Mother Nature and Father Time for you.

You're still not getting this, are you?

I will help you out and break it down into as simple terms as you can understand...

...you said "Tito was prime at welterweight"...

OK, are you still with me? That's what you said.

...and I mentioned: "Vargas at 154 and Joppy at 160" because...

...they were two of his best wins/performances, and they were...

    ...NOT at welterweight...

...do you get it now? Has it penetrated your tiny, confused, scared, lonely brain?

Or should I explain it again??????????????????????????? :nut:nut:nut

    actually...

you said tito was "prime" when b-hop beat him.

i said tito was "prime" at welter not middleweight.

then you tried to prove that tito was in fact prime at 154 which stil wouldn't make him "prime" at 160.

    geddit, ******? :thumbsup

A fighters stamina is only tested if his opponent is able to get in a position to punch regularly and set a sufficiently high enough workrate. Hopkins used movement to ensure Tarver, Pavlik and Pascal were unable to set a tempo high enough to test Hopkins ever declining stamina.

The difference wasn't just Calzaghe's workrate but his quick footwork and overall agility combined with his workrate. Other fighters were unable to make their workrate count like Calzaghe did but it still doesn't change the fact that a prime Hopkins would have been able to fire back at Calzaghe on equal terms unilke when he was 43 and stamina issues.

You could argue that Joppy was Hopkins last prime or close to prime performance as his workrate was still good in that fight. But in general I agree, Hopkins has looked old and past prime for several years the only people that don't believe that are trolls like Bailey who can't accept that a 43 year old man could drop their hero and make him look far from invincible.

Answer me this question: Is the welterweight limit 154 pounds, or not?

    that would be jr middleweight.

1 weight above tito's prime weight.

    what does that prove?

b-hop beat tito at 2 weights above tito's prime weight.

"stamina issues" that have only surfaced in 1 fight.

    Now your just being foolish.

There are numerous examples where Hopkins has shown a steady decrease in workrate and therefore stamina. His workrate was very economical against Eastman which first suggested to me he could no longer set the kind of pace he did in his prime when he was easily capable of throwing over a hundred punches a round.

Infact his lack of stamina and workrate notably cost him his middleweight title against Taylor. Whenever Hopkins opened up consistantly he had Taylor in trouble but he was no longer able to sustain such pressure for more than a few rounds over the course of the full 12 rounds.

The last fight where he showed a decent workrate was against Joppy, ever since then he has struggled to match the workrate and consistant pressure he was able to apply in that fight against Joppy and his previous opposition.

The fact that Hopkins completely changed his style during the latter part of his career and his continued decreasing workrate over several years is a clear sign of a fighter with stamina issues.

    Yay!!!! You get it!!!!

154 = not welterweight, so Tito was achieving his best performances outwith welterweight, therefore he was not only prime at welterweight, but at other weights as well, hip hip hurrah for you at long long last!!

Tito's performances at 154 (Vargas) and 160 (Joppy) were among the best of his career!

there is a difference between "a decline in workrate" & "stamina issues". i do agree that b-hop's stamina is not what it was at 160 since his move up to 175 but i still do not agree that he has "stamina issues". he, to this day, is finishing strongly.
