Absolutely champagne post from ESB's Elite poster, Headbanger. :deal

You may have not believed it back then, but you are more than making up for it now, and this post is a prime example of that. You certainly have the rare ability to see that Glass Jaws exist in boxing, while the moronic deniers still try to claim that "that punch could have KO'd anybody".:rofl:patsch

If only more posters shared your keen eye and insight. Salutations. :deal

Of course certain fighters have more fragile chins than others just like some have less natural stamina or more fragile hands or are more fragile in the rib cage area, etc. and on and on...

The problem with you guys is that you often fail to gather all elements together in order to come up with conclusions...

Example : If the chincheckers would have all posted here back in 2004 & 2005, they most likely would have proclaimed Miguel Cotto to have a disgraceful chin, since he was rocked so many times while fighting at 140lbs. The man moves up at 147lbs and he gets tagged by a heavy hitter like Shane Mosley, without being too shaken up.

Conclusion, making weight had counter productive effects on him at the end of his stay at 140lbs and in essence gave the impression that his chin was really weak. Since he's been fighting at 147lbs or above, although certainly not bullet proof, we immediately see his chin is at least decent.

Before claiming fighters are glass jaws, you have to take many things in consideration. Age, ring rust, fight weight, health condition, etc... Not just a bull**** hunch...

Paul Williams was seriously hit flush on many occasions in his career. Did you see the Margarito vs Williams fight ? I suspect you didn't....cause he showed what kind of chin he had that night. The problem Williams always had, is that he fights like a small man, crouched with his head constantly sticking out while coming forward. In the boxing world, it's suicidal to do so on the long run. Eventually someone drops you hard because of it. Martinez landed the perfect shot that was meant to happen because of Williams' style, not his weak chin...

Now that Williams has been dropped hard, you can expect his chin to be much more fragile. A "lights out" kind of knockout in boxing is the equivalent to a heavy concussion in other sports and medical people know that once you've had your first strong concussion, you're always prone to have others, more easily without the need for shocks as hard as the previous.

In boxing terms, it simply means that once you're dropped hard (lights out), lesser punches can now do the same job in the future !!!

Determining someone has a glass jaw would depend on whom you are comparing them to. Everybody gets rocked badly and most everybody hits the canvas, sometimes badly. Mayweather, Donaire, and I'm thinking Ward are the only guys on P4P lists I can think of that haven't had embarrassing/devastating moments. Recently, ie: Haye vs. Thompson/Mormeck (the Mormeck drop was comical), Khan vs. Prescott, Pacquiao vs. 3rd round body shots, and JMM vs. Pacquiao. Just because Williams got knocked unconscious by Sergio does not mean that Williams has had a glass jaw his whole career. In fact, the opposite. I mean, does Dirrell have a glass jaw since Abraham? Afterall, nowhere does it say the person soon to be anointed as having a glass jaw must be standing when they take the shot... The whole glass jaw thing is stupid. Yes it is absolutely, 100% real and yes, some people have them. But to take so much damn time talking about it and trying to convince, well, yourself really, is just a waste of time and quite annoying to read through.

I totally agree with you but just pointing out though that Ward has been dropped early in his career and we can say that Judah should have been given a knock down against Mayweather since Floyd put his glove to the floor.

    1) Agreed - and there is nothing "disrespectful" about pointing out the REALITY that a fighter has a glass jaw.

    2) This is simply not accurate. Clearly some fighters don't get dropped much, and some don't get dropped at all.

    3) True. Which is exactly why people shouldn't get their panties in a bunch over people pointing out that some fighters have glass jaws.

Oh and that last business about criticizing fighters - come on. Part of being a discerning fan is being critical. Unless, of course, you're just a hero-worshiping fanboy!

Glass Jaws exist in Boxing. It is a Fact. You want evidence? Go watch Roy Jones, Amir Khan, Zab Judah, or Enzo Maccarinelli getting brutally and embarrassingly KOed.

Yeah, come on! Who can watch these videos and deny that GLASS JAWS EXIST in boxing???

    [yt]5721sWEf3XA[/yt]

The evidence is there for all who have EYES! But some, apparently, cannot SEE!

These are The Deniers! It is our duty as Chincheckers to enlighten these poor souls!
