I think Canelo could have some success at 147 if he could make it, due to his strength and size, but at 154, I think it could be a tough road. We will see though, he still probably isnt even close to his peak, the problem is now that hes a 'champion', he might be rushed to fight fights hes not ready for. Him vs Chavez would be a perfect step for both fighters, imo. Or maybe a Gomez.... maybe K-9.
he never, ever hurt hatton. could you even imagine a pw, kc, or angulo who is going to fight back and throw punches...punches to get you out of there? hatton was there to make the distance.
When did i say Hatton was a b level fighter? He's a c minus fighter like Duddy. Duddy is not more dangerous opponent and if you look at the rest of his fights you would know that. If Duddy vs Hatton would have fought at 154 pounds, i really could see Hatton beating Duddy. Duddy has been in alot of close fights vs bums but yet you ignored the fact kirk cause you know it's the truth. I mean you talk about this fight tonight that thinks Jr could do the same? Well let Chavez Jr fight with pad lighter gloves that Alvarez wear tonight vs Hatton and lets see if Chavez Jr can win the fight by tko or ko. And btw who beat Cuello better? Thought so.
He hurt Hatton 3 times. Two by bodyshots and a good right on the chin near the end. Hatton was there to fight, not to survive.
I agree, I just hope it gets made. If they were to fight this year, the winner would be on a whole new level popularity wise, thats for sure.
Canelo needs more development. I hope tonights sham was just to put a title on him and boost his earning power, not as a way to bait other belt holders into a fight. Canelo has a ton of potential, but he's ALOT like Vargas: Good, but if he goes with an elite boxer who actually has pop, all that potential could go away in one fight. Move him slowly for another year or two, like they have been, and he'll be fine.
hatton did come to fight he was just never hurt. if he was hurt, he would have went down. seriously, at 154, there are four or five fighter right now that could've gotten hatton out of there tonight. easily. truth be told, if hatton and alvarez fought ten times i dont think alvarez (t)kos him once. that is what dlh and alvarez have to work with right now and in the future. that is a serious problem for a guy who makes his name on strength and so-called power.
Well m'man I have already stated I think Duddy beats Hatton head to head, and that I think hes more dangerous opponent, if barely. You dont.... fair enough We can keep going in circles I guess? Ya, Duddy has been in a lot of close fights with not so good fighters, and hatton... has LOST to some. The difference, one was against welters, the other jr middles and middles. One was close fights, one were actual losses. And ya, I do think Jr could have done the same. Bully Hatton, push him back, beat him to the body, and win by UD? ya... pretty much. I dont care if he could or couldnt win by stoppage. For the record, I dont think Jr would stop him. Theres too much confusion here. Let me make this clearer. - I think Duddy is a harder opponent, if barely, then Hatton is. Based off of size alone. Hatton brings NOTHING to beat Saul and Jr with. At least Duddy has size, pressure, and strength. Both are C level fighters, hatton with a bit more skill and ability (imo), Duddy with more size and the things that come with that. All in all, due to the things Duddy brings, I think he poses a bigger threat, if barely. Nothing about Duddy KO'ing Hatton, Nothing about Jr KO'ing Hatton, and nothing about Jr beating Saul. - I think Jr vs Saul is a great fight between two young mexican prospects, and I dont think eather holds much of an edge on the other, my whole comment was based on people assuming Saul abuses Chavez if they were to fight soon, and imo, its not likely. Im not going to continue a side debate on how Duddy stacks up with Hatton.... lol. You think Hatton is better, I dont (well, I do in the p4p sense, but not in the reality sense).... it is what it is. And its all besides the point. Which is, imo, that Saul wont beat Jr up. He might win, but it would be a good fight. And if JR sticks with roach and he continues to improve himself, I think Jr can beat Saul as well. The difference is, at this point im actually thinking it would be a bit unfair to Saul because he is still only 20, and while Jr is young, he very much has become a young man and is reaching his physical prime just about, and Saul has a lot of time before he reaches his peak. (unless he becomes shopworn too soon, which hopefully doesnt happen)
Canelo is great. He did great work. He also wore Winning gloves. So not a big knock on him, but Hatton earned a ton of respect. Canelo is a great prospect and considering him and Alexander are the same age? He seems like he has more on the upper end. We will see what happens when he steps up his competition. I hope it works out better than it did for Alexander. He has a strap. Time to show us what he is all about.
No hating necessary. He's a good young fighter, who probably could have showed a lot more had he been in shape. He needs a better trainer to take advantage of his natural talents though. Give him to Nacho and you'd have something there, but of course that's not gonna happen.
If I got odds I'd put a nice chunk of JCC Jr. He's being underrated quite a bit, the kid has very nice skills, a good chin and likes to mix it up. He's gonna be better every time he gets in the ring with Roach behind him as well. I think Jr. stands a very good chance of totally outjabbing Canelo, busting him up, hanging with him in the exchanges and maybe get him going defensive in the late rounds.
You don't have to apologize, Duddy is CLEARLY a better and more dangerous fighter than Hatton and would far more likely than not stop him. That's not saying Duddy is a HOF fighter, that's saying that Matthew isn't dangerous at all to any upper level fighter.
Doubt it happens anytime soon. Sulaiman said yesterday he expects them to meet in ****ing 2014 after making a bunch of defences of the titles he was going to hand them.Canelo-JCC Jr would be great for later this year or early next year. They could build an old school rivalry which could lead to a trilogy of fights, or more.
