It's Zab Judah we're talking about! A guy we used to criticize for falling apart under pressure, and displaying the ring IQ of a nat. He went out there and survived controversy and adversity, patiently worked his fight plan, and knocked Mabuza senseless! I give him massive credit for that.

    Excellent post

I agree. Judah needs to work on a consistent offense instead of throwing that pawing jab and ducking and slipping

Judah is the biggest thread to Bradley at 140. He has all the punches that Devon doesn't. Bradley may very well outwork him, but Zab will likely drop him in the fight and present the greatest deal of adversity Bradley's encountered since Holt.

Judah's left uppercut for instance is a game changer and may dictate Bradley's entire approach. I wouldn't be surprised if Bradley tries to box Zab as opposed to pressure him.

But how successful can he be boxing Zab?

Judah was well on his way to losing this fight. he was down 3 points on my card only rd 6. Mbuza hurt him and was breaking him down.

That punch bailed him out, I dont like his new style. he isnt slick enough defensively to pull it off mbuza landed the jab on him all fight.

you can't score fights if you had him down by 3 points.

Judah controlled every round except for 2, with just defensive movement. The KO came beautifully, there was no luck involved it was a beautiful trap and it was beautifully executed.

Roger Mayweather "most people dont know **** about boxing". Here is a post as evidence of that.

Rd 3 Mbuza knocked him down, thats a 10-8 learn to score. Judah won barely rd 4, but I scored it for him. judah Cleanly lost rd 5 and was nearly starched out. You need to just stay a fan and leave the scoring to the professionals. Judah ate jab after jab, Mbuza walked him down and landed all the meaningful straight rights. stop listening to bias announcers and start scoring the fight on clean punching

At no point in the fight was Judah nearly "starched out" as you would say. Like I said, having Judah down by 3 points shows you don't know how to score fights.

Zab is working it all wrong hopefully he stays with Pernell so he can learn more.Zab was just slipping none stop and not making him pay enough, Zab was throwing only 3 punches at a time sometimes no more than a one two.Now Im not going to sit here and say Zab was waiting for that left hand the whole fight because he wasn't, it was more of a WTF punch, the same type of WTF punch that hurt George Foreman against Ali.It just happen, it wasn't being set up.Now I know that Pernell wasn't the best counter puncher but he didn't throw away 70% of his opportunities to counter, if he didn't counter punch it was A. he was slipping only to evade corner assault or B. Because he was show boating. But he wouldn't slip for 9 1/2 hours just to throw 2 jabs and a left hand.I dont think this fight means anything to Zabs career although the title was on the line.He still needs a lot to work on before he can fight real competition.

Actually Zab and Pernell were talking in round 6 about continuing to work Mabuza so that he would walk into a upper cut, luckily for them they didn't need to walk him into an upper cut because he walked right into the left.

I agree he was slipping with no punishment way too much, I gather this is because they were scared of his power and were trying to not engage in a slugfest or a situation where Zab would be easily tagged.

That KD was more a slip, and even with that happening he dominated the whole round, made it a 9 - 9 in my books. Round 5 I'll give that to Mabuza but in no way he nearly starched Zab:patsch

    Zab was great last night.

But let's stop kidding ourselves if we believe Mabuza was anywhere near a Top 10 Contender.

If its one thing we found out last night, it's that Mabuza is a very one dimensional fighter that has an average chin (he was on ***** street from the first second of the that KO punch) who is very vulnerable to falling for his opponent's game plan.

I mean, who keeps trying to punch the guy the same way and follow him around for that many rounds without at least rethinking his strategy or thinking that he might be falling into a trap? :patsch

@ Kampioni, the KD is not a slip if the gloves touch the floor, and no, just because it wasn't called for May doesn't mean the rule doesn't exist.

Zab has put together a nice string of wins and should be reguarded as a major player in the division. I wouldnt favor him over most of the other champions, but he is not a weak link in the top 5 imo. its rare that a fighter goes back down in weight at this point in his career and regains a title. For that I give him credit. It also shows that he has been working hard in the gym.

Judah's chin has been in question in the past, and deservedly so, but Zab at least partially slipped that punch and only touched a glove to the canvas because he was off balance more than any other reason. Since Judah won the round aside from that (at least on my card), calling that a 10-9 mabuza round is hardly out of the question.
