Byrd, at his best, an excellent fighter. But if you want to beat a prime Patterson, you need to hurt him. Badly. Or be a genuine ATG "boxer". Patterson's got this.
i have not seen that much of patterson as he is a boxer that never really appealed to me. i thought about other match-ups for him but his chin against the bigger heavy's seems to be a huge problem to me anyway
ok his chin seems really bad, if he lands first he has a chance but against the rest of the champs he dont look like a good bet to me . patterson vs tommy morrison for instance is a probable morrison win for me
This might be the crux of your problem. :think Tell me about your childhood. Lay down on the couch if it makes you feel more comfortable. Doctor Ears is your friend...in a cold, disconnected, impartial, dispassionate, professional, medical way.
i am going to order some patterson fights this week to have a closer look . my childhood was a rollercoaster of fun and **** doctor Ears
No one has ever told me that when it wasn't followed by uncovering some rough stuff and weeping uncontrollably. Butt...it's not your fault. It's-not-your-fault. That'll be 350 dollars, here's a lollipop. Schedule an appointment next week with Connie on your way out.
His chin is not bad. See, he was stopped 5 times. Two times bu Ali on cuts and facially swellings. Chin? No. Two times by Liston. Early. Chin? Well, yeah but Liston is one of the hardest punchers at hw, the ring magazine even ranked him in the Top15 p4p. And once by Johannson. Well, Johannson ended up in the Top100 p4p punchers of ring magazine too. Not a shame getting stopped by those men, is it? Yes, he was knocked down often. But interestingly never past round 4. This had more and other reasons than his chin. One is his style. Due to this he was often off-balance and once caught there he went down. Another reason is that he was very nervous early on but once he got going he wasn´t knocked out or down anymore, usually around round 5. His chin is not bad, it isn´t good either. It´s average. About as good as Wlad´s - no he has not a glass chin. A problem against the biggest bangers like Louis, Marciano, Foreman, Lewis but he would deal with the not great hws with a big punch like Shavers, Morrison or Tua. He beat Chuvalo and Bonavena and should have gotten the decision in both Quarry fights, while not bangers like Liston they all had serious pop. Nevertheless, Patterson was never in danger of getting stopped here. He´s great to watch, wonderful technique, fast, variable, adaptable, great combinations, awesome lefthook and just a very attractive style to watch. And he would murder Morrison. Tommy may knock him down early but Patterson even got up against Liston. He´d beat Byrd too. Since Byrd has a good chin and was very good defensivly probably by UD. Wouldn´t rule out a late stoppage though.
thanks interesting post perhaps i am to down on patterson. i would of picked him against byrd but the morrison fight would be a bit of a who lands big first wins fight for me
Wow, this is different. Isn't the trend suppose to be the worst, most limited big puncher you can think of...say someone like Bonecrusher Smith vs. Floyd Patterson? With the majority picking the puncher of course. Patterson eats Byrd up, one punch KO out of his ass somewhere after the 5th round.
