Because Wlad has never beaten the other best guy in the division, Vitali...and the gulf in class between Vitali and the No.3 at the time, Chagaev was massive.

To establish a new lineage you surely have to prove beyond doubt you are the best in the division, no?

Seeing as Wlad and Vitali have more than 1,000,000 times said that they won't fight each other Wlad could only beat the next best man.

Now the Wlad fight has been confirmed how likely is it that they (sky) will have both fights as ppv only a few weeks apart?

imo khan has got the beytter chance to win against their opponents out of the names you mentioned.

I know, but just because Wlad and Vitali are brothers and will never fight eachother does that mean what a 'lineal champion' is should change?

To me its just attaching lineage to Wlad for the sake of it. The fact is that Wlad has not beaten the best the HW division has to offer, regardless of the circumstances of why he has not done so.

Ryan Rhodes, Matt Macklin, Kell Brook, and John Murray could get world title fights agaisnt big names in the US. If Craig McWean beats Andy Lee this weekend he could also get a shot. Paul McCloskey already has the Khan fight.

At Heavyweight Chisora vs Fury is realistic. The winner could be Europea champion by the end of the year and David Price will need to make a step up in class.

At Cruiserweight Ola Alafoabi could pop back into the picture at Cruiserweight.

At Light Heavyweight McIntosh/Macceranelli/Bellew and Dodson could all clash in some combo. Be intresting to see what Dickinson and Jeffries do.

At Super Middleweight DeGale vs Groves winner will push on I would be shocked if the winner isnt European champion by the end of the year. The Prizefighter winner and Kenny Anderson would be intresting for the vacant British.

At Middleweight if Darren Barker win the european and defends it twice he will be in line for a World title fight in 2012. Martin Murray and the likes of Paul Smith and Tony Quigley coming down to 160lbs make it intresting. The progress of Billy Joe Saunders is worth looking out for.

At Light Middleweight Sam Webb is now in line for a fight with Lukas Konecny. Thats a good fight, a tough ask. Konecny has a very high world ranking. Would love to see an all Liverpool clash between Joe Selkirk and Joe McNally.

At Welterweight Watson could push for the now vacant European title. Jennings/M.Hatton/Lynnes/O'Donnell agaisnt eachother would all be intresting and Junior Witter could still be in the mix. Denton Vassell will have progressed to.

At Light Welterweight all eyes will be on Frankie Gavin. Clearly a A Level talent domestic fighters like Cook, Williams, Daws will be good fights. I think its realistic for him to pick up the Commonwealth, British and European before the year is out. Ashley Theophane and Ajose Olusegun could both get world title fights but they would be underdogs. Young fighters like Tyrone Nurse, Chris Evangelou and Karl Place have shown promise and may be in the title picture once Gavin vacates.

At Lightweight Kevin Mitchell and Gavin Rees would be intresting challangers for John Murray. Would like to see Anthony Crolla claim the Lonsdale outright but he may move back to Super Feather (don't be shoch to see him vs Fegatilli). All scottish fights between Limmond/McAllister/McArhtut/Arthur would be intresting.

At Super Feather Skykes impressed in his comeback this weekend. A rematch with Gary Buckland is one of the most anticipated fights on the domestic scene now. The winner would push for the European. Foster Jnr can comeback and get involved as could Paul Appleby. Truscott and the Walsh vs Kays Commonwealth title fight winner from next week will be in the mix to.

At Featherweight the John Simpson vs Stephen Smith 2 winner will fight Martin Lindsay. The winner of that can push towards a European title.

At Super Bantamweight its red hot. Jason Booth is fighting Martinez in Spain next month. Thats a tough fight. Rendall Munroe will face the winner and push for a world title fight hopefully at home this time. Jamie Arthur and Kris Hughes will be tough tests for hot prospects Carl Frampton, Scott Quigg and Joe Murray. Add Rhys Roberts and to that list to. Those 4 fighting each other will get fans talking.

At Bantamweight Jamie McDonnell has been impressing at European level. A European/British & Commonwealth unification with Stuart Hall would be a good fight.

At Flyweight Lee Haskins has a European title fight agaisnt Andrea Sarritzau who is highly ranked by all the governing bodies. Paul Edwards will eventually rematch Shinny Bayaar. Ashley Sexton is an exciting fight with the winner.

If he gets a cut or has a real tough fight with Paul McCloskey it will be ambitious.

I give Wlad the benefit of the doubt. 'Lineage' is hard to establish in the days of numerous titles/people being stripped/interim/Emeritus etc etc. I would say he's the definite no.1.

The gulf in class is between Wlad and Vitali, not the Klits and everyone else. The Chagaev win was what Wlad needed IMO. Hate is holding a trinket that Wlad has essentially already won

People are gonna' be disappointed come fight night when they see what a mismatch Wlad Vs Haye is IMO.

I agree about lineage but not about the gulf in class. Do not rate Wlad at all and Vitali is way past it. They have only been succesful because of the lack of any real challenge. Wlad has never faced a world class fighter.

Well Haye isn't that guy. He's no better than anyone else Wlad has faced for reasons I've been over numerous times.

Also, if you dot Wlad 'at all' how good of a win for Haye is it if he pulls off the unthinkable?

Can't agree with the statement that the gulf is between Wlad and Vitali and not the Klits and the rest. I feel Vitali would have dominated everyone on Wlads recent record and vice versa. There has been a clear No.1 and No.2 for a while now who haven't faced eachother, I feel its wrong to declare lineage in a division where thats the case.

Anyway I've diverted this thread far from its original intention, Sorry Laz.

    Sorry Laz :good

But Wlad has been more active and beaten more challengers. Would you say that he is above Vitali because of this factor?

Vitali, whilst still awkward and effective, has looked like **** and with not many more miles left on the clock since returning IMO. An in-shape Solis (an oxymoron?) can pull off the win IMO.

Laz, decent thread, sorry for starting one of our debates in it (happens to good threads as well as **** ones mate :rofl) :good
