This past weekend Adrian Broner exposed what I believe to be the "one dimensional" Afro-American style. I read on this forum and others, a lot of people stating the reason Adrian would win is because Ponce was a one dimensional fighter.

This is true. Ponce has an atypical come forward take 2 to deliver 1 style. But it is equally true that Adrian's style is just as one dimensional. Broner's style is pure counter punching, no effective aggression, just counter punching.

Whereas Ponce's style requires: physical strength, sturdy chin, and good stamina. Broner's style requires: fast hands and feet, and sharp reflexes. But though they require different physical tools, they are both "one dimensional".

So why is it that so many boxing fans fail to see this, Broner's style is praised, while Ponce's is ridiculed?

Boxing history tells us that Broner's style isn't any more affective than Ponce's. And that it is the talent level of the fighter employing the style and who he is matched up with, and how talented they are that will determine their success in any given fight.

I think it is time boxing fans start seeing the Broner's, Alexander's, Dirrel's, Judah's, and Jacob's of the world for what they are.

    Completely One Dimensional Fighters!

Broner stinks, you can't judge all of the slick black fighters by him.
Adrian was real lucky to get the decision Saturday night.

Highway robbery for for De Leon. Highway robbery. A draw was the best Broner could have gotten and 99-91 tells me that judge had his cards filled out by Golden Boy in advance.

You have to be able to create you openings by being first yourself from time to time, you cant strictly rely on working your offense off you defense, someone else's offense, cause then you are reliant on how many opportunities your presented with, which means you conceivably start getting outworked whilst your waiting.

With all that said, you cant label Broner as the quintessential Afro-American style just cause he is not that great utilizing his particular style.

The key to being a good defensive fighter is being able to find the medium between offense and defense, guys like Malignaggi, Judah are too defensive, which is why they get overwhelmed by aggression at times, they dont do enough to make their guy think twice about front dooring them.

Defensive fighters with an adequate balance between offense and defense are very effective.

Lol, if you think blacks fight in one style. I'm black and I wanted Broner too lose. His cockiness in the introductions was over the top with stupidity. But for you to put blacks in a box shows that you don't know too much about the sport or your just looking for reasons to start foolery.

You have to be offensive to a degree to make it stick, otherwise you get walked through. You cant allow someone to keep stepping to you, you have warn them, that there is a price to pay for doing that, once you have established that, your defensive strategy is easier to implement, guys like Maliganggi dont do enough offensively to make someone respect him, so his defensive nature just encourages his opponents to apply more pressure so they can overwhelm him.
