That Chagaev win was a load of balls...shocking he was still ranked at 3. Chag had being out for ages due to injury (or what it his hepatitis) and then came back against Drummond I think and looked shite. No way was that the form of a no.3 hw and he took the Wlad fight on two weeks notice...although he had being training for Valuev.
yes. and you no how the ring always bang on about there panel of experts that decide on rankings etc.... in this case shelly finkel rang the magazine editior and said he needed a decision within an hour as they were doing a press confrence. the guy was on the motarway and didn't have time to contact the panel so he just made the decision himself.
He beat Valuev more impressively than Haye I felt. At the time I felt Drummond was decent. Subsequent details have proved me wrong. Wlad didn't lose a round and sat Ruslan on his arse. Decent win. He has more depth than Vitali, and has looked equally dominant and less ragged. He does A-B-C very well.
The Ring is a joke nowadays. Their articles have slipped from decent to (sometimes) appalibgly bad IMO. Although because of that I ain't read it in months so no order if that's changed. Wlad is clearly no.1 IMO.
Wlad is no.1 no doubt, he's clearly more accomplished and skilled than Vitali but the Chagaev fight should never have being for the Ring title. Like Rob says, the Klits manager just asked them to make for the Ring belt and they stupidly obliged.
It is actually shocking and also about 3 months out of date. The latest issue at my news agent has "In depth reviews of Marquez vs Katsidis" on the front cover lol. There rankings actually suck....mine kick there butt.
Wlad is certainly above Wlad in terms of record, that isn't in question. It is a fact that Wlad has not beaten the best other HW in the division and I would say the difference between Chagaev and Vitali is huge, rather than the difference between Wlad and Vitali is huge. I wouldn't say Vitali has looked ****, probably a bit of a harsh word to describe him. Of course hes lost a step but hes still been utterly dominant against fighters of a similar vein to who Wlad has beaten. If Wlad and Vitali were not brothers and hadn't fought by now, nobody would consider Wlad undisputedly and without doubt the best guy in the division and lineal champion, they would want him to face Vitali before declaring that IMO. Just my thoughts on it anyway...
The Ring takes months to come out over here. And despite this the UK retail price is astonishing Ishy, I'm not really arsed which trinkets Wlad holds. I think the no.1 is usually easy enough to spot. With or without The Rung title, Pascal was the no.1 man going into his fight with B-Hop. Dawson arguably was beforehand dice Joe C, retired, but Pascal upon beatific Chad clearly was the no.1 A very specific example but you get me. Wlad is clearly the no.1. He wouldve solidified that with him besting more ranked/decent opposition to his Brother, in his absence and still doing it now. Solis will trump a few of Wlads recent ones until lil Bro' fights Haye. Where everyones resume in the division is so crummy, on a talent+resume basis Id say Haye, Adamek and Solid are the 3,4,5, and in that order :good With or without The Rings say-so Anyone agree with that top five as it stands. They all have more basis being in there than Povetkin IMO.
**** was too harsh. Dog rough would've been better. He's still formidable due to his size, mass and awkwardness. He is dominant I agree, but would favour my 3,4 and 5 to fare better against him than say, Arreola, Sosnowski or Johnson :good BTW, if he does make two or three more fights, I think the above calibre if opposition will do him. He really doesn't have ling left IMO, but I imagine both brothers will want to retire on top with all the belts. Adamek, Povetkin, Solis and Haye. Of they take two each they can both retire in the next year. Really, how BAD will the division be then?
Yeah he does look slightly more beatable with each passing fight, I have no faith in Solis being the man for the job though. The division will be so awful when the Klits are gone (its hard to fathom just how bad it could be), but as they say...Cometh the Hour, Cometh the Man...... This content is protected :yep
if they retire these Adamek, Povetkin, Solis and Haye could fight eachother. all competative exciting fights.
Personally, I think that's a part of the problem with the division. The contenders don't seem to fight other contenders. They know how weak the division is so if they sit on their arse for a bit and fight an eliminator against someone like Maurice Harris, they'll get another Klit shot and a bigger payday. There are some intriguing matches to be made E.G Arreola vs Peter but it's pretty unlikely. When was the last one? Arreola vs Adamek? Fair enough they might not be the most technically beautiful matches but there's potential for a few decent scraps there
Povetkin, in his 30s ain't he, is the biggest waste if space. Injury prone, done **** all since Chambers (Eddie went on to show some improvements) barely fights and is no puncher. Bruce Seldon
