Carl Froch, Arthur Abraham. Would beat anybody in the super middleweight division save maybe Ward or Bute.

The most boring fights we have seen is not the slick style, that slick style is awesome to watch. It is when they spoil and not actually fight. RUN, clinch, hold, run, fake A Knock-out andre direll style etc. This is being negative by not exchanging enough leather people goes home not pleased with your antics atop the ring.

Well, everyone has a natural inclination based on their physical affinities. You can augment your style but changing it completely is miraculous and rare, more like gradual changes over time.

Yes, a lot of black fighters are successful with this style because they have a natural affinity for fleet-footedness. But then there are guys like Clottey and Edison Miranda and Tyson or Rahman who have very different styles all around, but none of them "runs" or dances. Floyd is on the border of it - but he has the skills to stay in control the whole time. This is something Spinks could not do - if thirty people watched Spinks -Mayorga, half the room would say Mayorga won and Spinks was falling all over the place to avoid getting hit, the other half (maybe slightly less, but most of them are boxing judges) would say he was not getting hit and was landing his shots more frequently, making Mayorga look wild and out of control. I think Mayorga won easy, but there is a case for Spinks because he looked reckless, but there was not "control", something Floyd is good at putting on. Its clear Baldomir and Shane are not in the fight.

Well, most of those slicksters just aren't that good but the judges like it because they are effective at not getting hit and making the other guy look clumsy, even though he is making the fight. To deny a genetic predisposition for fleet footedness seems a bit niave and too politically correct, everyone is born with a genetic predisposition based on their heritage. If you are fast as hell on your feet, why take shots when you don't have to? Its just most of these guys forget that its a fight.

I always try to avoid these subjects regarding race because in the end I always get attacked and called an Uncle Tom but **** it here I go..............

IMO the whole slick "Afro American" style has been known as that because of guys like Hopkins and Mayweather, Guys like this not only use the "slick" style but they constantly remind us that they are Black and try to attach their style as a product of their "blackness".
Hopkins is always starting up some racial **** and Floyd loves to play the race card with comments like "oh black fighters cant be great" or "it's not ok for black fighters to be gettin money" ect.

Guys like Paul Williams, Tim bradley ect. Dont fight in the slick style but also you never hear any racial bull**** out of their mouths.

on a side note to White people or any other race..... Saying "black" is perfectly fine..... Don't try tp be politically correct and say "African American"....if any black people have a problem with it then they are just insecure and trying to start some drama.
We don't refer to you as Caucasian Americans, so in my opinion there is no reason that you have to refer to us as African Americans, that is a bull**** double standard.

    GTFO!!! Uncle Tom!

(seriously, blacks I know professionally and personally comes closer to your attitude than some vociferous posters here. I don't know why Hopkins gets a free pass here sometimes. Success in sports does not equal social intelligence - see John Rocker, Jimmy The Greek, etc).

Broner is a very poor man's Floyd Mayweather. And if you fight that style, you better be very very good like Floyd is. Otherwise no one will be interested.

    Dan Rafael (12:49 AM)

You're right. Broner has a lot of talent. I have seen so many of his fights and he did not fight like he usually does tonight. He usually lets his hands go a lot more.

Is this ignorance foreal? YDKSAB. Do you know the difference between a "style" and a "tactic"? Counter punching is a style which can be used as a tactic. Taking 2 to give 1? Is a tactic used against speedy fighters. A guy who goes after a guy is not taking 2 to give 1 if he is skillful. If you attack a guy and go to the body... You take a few more shots. That is just a fact of Boxing.

Being a slick defensive fighter has nothing to do with being Black, though many Black guys do so. That is the least of Broner's problems. Broner is a raw fighter that has only focused on one aspect of his game, looking flashy. All style, no substance.

He is neither particularly effective defensively and pitifully deficient offensively. We know his defense sucks because PDL was gut shotting him all night. We know his offense sucks because he had no jab and when asked to turn it up he was squared up and brawling.

Then the list of other guys you mentioned. Really? Alexander is a prospect, Dirrell is a former Olympian who gave Froch (who is now about even to win the Super 6) his toughest fight and cracked the AA code. Judah has a 57% KO ratio and is a 5 time world champion. Jacobs doesn't fight defensive or slick.

Hate Black people much? Own your weak sauce racism. Stop with the harebrained anal-ysis:lol:

I agree with this, fighting slick is not exclusively a black style, but it is generally utilized by a lot of Black fighters, but its more down to the psyche of the fighter, and in general, Black people are very image conscious, they want to win, but look good doing it, where as white fighters probably have an inferiority complex to the point where they try to be too macho and fight in a straight ahead style to prove themselves.
