Ver para creer, mi hermano, ya la edad no lo acompaña. I think his mistakes are deeply rooted in him, he wasn't even #1 or 2 in Cuba.

Look at the bright side of life. Yuniesky Gonzalez who was ranked 2 in Super heavy back in Cuba is now fighting at 178 pound . If He can make 175 he can make it big in light heavy. Gonzalez is 25 years old and really big body to be only 178.
Also Pedro Julio Rodriguez could make it , last fight he came in 195 pound, but back in cuba he was light heavy

All in all we have a good bunch of fighters that will make us proud, and will keep us rooting for them for years to come, Y siguen llegando, I was really surprised at how many athletes had defected in the past 2 years, they are like 25-40 baseball players and their age is from 17-21 y/o, they all were playing at the juveniles level and some in the Serie Nacional, I meant what Arocha did was open the door for all those athletes and now they taking advantage of that.

All Cubans fighting in the pros are expats. Pro boxing is still illegal in Cuba.

We all ( Cubans ) supported Despaigne on his last fight and many of us will continue to do so , but if you take a minute to think about Despaigne chances of wining this fight , you can see that his chances were slim at best , Despaigne makes far too many mistakes inside a ring to have a chance against a boxer like the Ucranian , He ( Despaigne ) keeps letting is left hand down , also he tends to stand in front of his opponent for long periods of time allowing himself to get punched ( contraattack ) , he doesn't go to the body enough , he loses focus in the middle of a fight , etc . This is not something new, he used to do the same mistakes in the Amateurs , that's why he never really won anything important ( Olympics , World Titles , etc ) . What surprised me was that before such an important fight for his future boxing career nobody seemed to have him work on this defects , he looked overconfident at the beginning of the fight and from the 3rd round on ( after the kd ) seemed to wake up a bit , but it was too late , the ucranian had already stablished the pace and the manner in wich he wanted to fight , from then on Despaigne was looking for a punch ( wich he lacks ) to balance the cards , it didn't happened. This fight should be a great experience for any other boxer of Despaigne's skills but I'm afraid that without a coach that speaks Spanish on his corner it will come to waste , if there is a boxer that requires constant reminding of what's he is doing in a ring , is Despaigne , I doubt that with a Cuban trainer that knows him from his ams days ( like Solis with his trainer ) he will continue to make those mistakes , he will be constantly reminded of them ( watch in YouTube his fight against the Bulgarian in the 2004 Olympics and you will see Sarvelio nearly explodes with Despaigne , ! He even tells Despaigne that his mistakes looks like CHILDREN mistakes !!) . He needs to work on these mistakes but he's 31 so I don't know if he has time left , I still think that he has a future in Boxing but not a H.O.F career , and to be honest we ( cubans ) shouldn't be too disapointed about the L.H.W division because we have a kid in Ireland ( Luis Garcia ) that is really really good and is only 24 years old , so hopefully we will get some results there , the only thing about Luis Garcia that I don't like is hid manager ( Gary Hide ) , it's the same guy that made Rigondeaux waste all those months without fighting at the begining of his career. I think he should ditch him and go to the States . Peace.

¿ Can you tell me how many cubans have been " exposed " before this fight ? Despaigne wasn't " exposed " , he just lost the fight .

Garcia has had another manager than Hyde for quite a while now. Hyde is with Rigondeaux still.
