I might have given him a chance against Cotto of a few years back who tends to slug, but I think Cotto has gone back to boxing and Mayorga tends to struggle with boxers, bit of a slugger.

I think cotto weathers an early storm and gets his man out of there in 6 or 7.

Not a Freddie Roach nut-hugger or anything but after a later round during the Pacquiao-Cotto fight he said to his charge "This guy cant fight backwards" and his right. Even with his inactivity a past his peak Mayorga still has the physical power and aggresive syle to make Cotto go onto his backfoot and will give him problems to begin with. Trouble is I dont see El Matador having the discipline to sustain the attack, nor do I see him being able to blast Cotto out and so I see Miguel's body shots and better accuracy of punches stopping Mayorga around 8/9 or maybe Mayorgas corner pulling him out. Cant rule out cuts on this one either

I think Miguel will use a lot of lateral movement centrally and look to step inside the wings of Mayorga and break him up on the inside when he can.

Make him miss, make him pay. Do not stand at range and take his shots on gloves is Manny's call to Miguel.

I think Miguel will slowly break him down and once he gets past the bravado and hurts the heart of Mayorga he will stop him. The Foreman fight i think Miguel was boxing very structured and disciplined fight he will in this bout but look to stop Mayorga when he has him going.

    cheers pal :good

What you said it spot on btw. He can't afford to get backed up in this...Mayorga is arrogant fighter...give him belief and he's all over you.

:good Thanks mate. And I cant imagine Steward as superb a trainer he is will have work much on that, James Toney aside I dont remember too many defensive counter-punchers he trained. Cotto's gotta think this fight through, which is why this version of Cotto rather than the bullish younger one has a better shot of winning.

Left hook body then head ends this fight in about 8 or 10 rounds...

Thing is with Mayorga he's your archetypal bully. Once you land on him with consistency and the crowd roars just like in school playground when he tries test the weak and the kids roar when he's being hit...he soon falls apart (bravado at first) with devastating consequences. Cotto in every single fight has found a home for his punches and i think with Manny in his corner the body work will continue and he will stop him around 8 or 9. I did say 7 last week but got a feeling Mayorga will give it his all...last chance saloon.
