But Wlad just isn't that good so he doesn't need to be that...

That was referring to how people describe his skillset. Nothing special. Wlad isn't either, butbhes a solid fighter in most eras with he does. Haye is nobody in most eras, especially with his views in the game. In an era with no Cruiser division ad a good HW scene he'd retire after being sparked a few times and realising he wouldn't cut it.

Wlad wouldn't be anywhere near dominant, but going on what we've seen of both men he'd certainly be way more formidable than Haye. And stylistically he is worse for Haye than Haye is for him (though IMO worst style for Haye would be an aggressor with a decent chin. Not iron, but someone like say, Bert Cooper would bang him out for sure. And that's Bert Cooper.)

I don't entirely disagree with you but I just don't rate Wlad, I think he gets sparked by most of the decent heavyweights of the past. He's too passive, panics when hit, does do things wrong but gets away with it. He has 3 shots in his arsenal, and mostly only uses 2. I think both brothers get away with a lot because of their height. When was the last time Wlad fought someone in excellent condition?

P.S. I think Haye would have been a contender in most eras. His chin isn't THAT bad and he does have skills and does hit hard enough to hurt most fighters, that's got to count for something. Sure he's not textbook but you don't have to be textbook...

You don't need to tell me about textbook or not, it's that he simply isn't good enough at what he does, regardless of what he does :good

I agree with the rest of your post. Haye would not have beentop ten in any other era IMO, I actually made a thread about it recently I think :good

People keep going on about Wlad being more skilled.

Yes, he's more skilled in an orthodox fashion. He's pretty textbook in a lot of ways, on the outside at least. Except for some upper body movement, but his size reduces how much of a problem that is.

But, he's skilled in that textbook way. It's not necessarily the greatest style against Haye's school of fighting which is all about taking his opponents lead away and surprising him with bursts of speed. Same reason Dzinziruk is going to get owned by Martinez IMO. It's not on that level obviously, and Wlad is the favourite, but people are not recognizing the styles at work here.

    no

he was knocked out in the amateurs

    he was down against Mock.

he was down against Carl Thompson - and lost the fight.

Monte Barret bungled him down too and hurt him - but it wasnt ruled a knockdown.

Thinking back to the Monte Barret fight -

ESB Member - Trotter (once accused of being Ray Hatton - ) commented to him that Haye was still a

    fighter.

I agree and this will tell in the fight.

Wlad has had - (let me just go and check on boxrec ;))

as well as being a world class heavyweight amateur with Olympic Gold Medal

had - 58 fights in total - all at heavyweight - against decent world class opposition -

he suffered his last loss - 6 years ago - and has since matured as a fighter

that experience - will come into play

    Haye has had -

World Class Crusier Amateur - World Silver Medal

Only 26 fights - with the last 4 being at heavyweight.

    Haye is also probaly too

    to win this fight.

haye has not been down for ages, yeah fair enough he might of got caught against barret but the ref said no.

anyway all things aside i just cant see haye having any problems against either klit imo.

Haye got stopped on his feet against Thompson after gassing badly... that's a fact. There are many refs who would have stopped Thompson in rounds 1 or 2... but that's only my opinion, so check the fight out and feel free to tell me I'm wrong. Folks, there's more than enough valid criticism of Haye flying around without making **** up. The man has balls when he's actually in the ring.

People choose to remember Haye getting KOd in the amateurs then conveniently forget the rest of his amateur career when they say he has no skill. They forget that he beat the man at Cruiserweight and got himself a shiny collection of belts there. One accusation that cannot honestly be levelled at David Haye is a lack of ability. Simply put, he may not be big enough to hang with the best heavies, and that's where Wlad's advantages lie. If the two men were of equal weight then who would you favour? I'd favour Haye all day long.

It's going to be a nailbiter. Anyone who bets the farm either way is a reckless fool.

Damn, people really are stretching going back that far. Pacquiao has lost a fight more recently than David Haye, doesn't mean Pac isn't a bad ass now. I think it's more sensible to assess a fighter based on recent performances.
