According to the report, the fight of "Canelo" against Matthew Hatton reached a rating of 25 points, a figure that has seldom managed to reach the Mexican National Soccer, or who have been the most famous Mexican soap operas.

Unofficially, in investigations into the Canal de Chapultepec, it was learned that the transmission boxing reached a peak of 24.8 in the final rounds. So the strong rating was 23.9, with peaks of 24.8.

Promotions Canelo spokesman explained that "every rating point is equivalent to 600 thousand households, which means that 15 million households were on the TV on Channel 5. If this is multiplied by four people, who on average make up a family we are talking about 60 million viewers were aware of what 'El Canelo' did in the ring. "

    these numbers sound like bull****.

no offense, and I hope they aren't

between these numbers and the HBO numbers on the other thread, they should have this guy fighting on PPV against cans and they'd be making millions

Lets not forget that Mexican families have in average more than two
children and they does not have a very good lodging so most probably
if the man in the house is watchin boxing then the whole family must
watch it as well .... just multiple the 15 mln by average 6 and here you go ...
~100 millions Mexicans including elderly and new born were watching this fight.

I had 7 people at my house watching this fight. So the estimates may be more real than you think.

People don't understand the popularity Canelo has in Mexico. There's nothing like it in pro boxing except maybe for Pac in the Philippines.

Why is he so popular? He's not amazing, he hasnt achieved much, I wouldnt say he was great looking either. Is it simply because he is a white ginger mexican?

He has a bigger following than a peak Margo(post cotto), prime MAB/Morales/JMM, Chavez Jnr?

Sorry that is not how it works.

Might as well count the dogs and cats while he is at it.

25 points is probably closer to 25-40 million.
