Quartey pulled out of a fight with tito to fight DLH, a lot more money against DLH i remember tito was pissed..

a fight with mosley never happened cause tito had already left to 154 and didnt want to come back down..

it was his fathers fault he was too strict never wanted to concede anything. the fight with mosley and the rematch with dlh wouldve happened if he wouldve agree to fight at 150 which was reasonable but he rather go up to 160 where tito had no business being in

I never heard that before where you get those stories from the internet. LOL people spread the same garbage and soon it turns into the truth. Tito was taking english lesson and from the beginning there was a plan to help him learn English so he could be more mainstream and more marketable in the US. Not one person have i heard that will think of him or any other boxer athlete as a sell out for learning english. Is stupid and more stupid the people that believe that this is true.

And yes tito did wanted to learn english and was learning but every time he got his best friend to translate for him. He wanted to give him a job plus after the DLH fight he exploded with fame so he didnt need to speak english. Although if he had he wouldve made some money in advertisements and stuff.

The only reason cotto is not liked as much as tito is just because of his personality that's all. Juanma is loved and is considered the minny tito because of the same reasons. Nothing to do with language but the way they act around a lot of people. Cotto is shy i guess while juanma and tito will get on any stage and dance with any music group and make a fool of themselve and wouldnt care.

I dont have quotes but I recall one fight I forgot who it was but Jim Lampley was saying how they refuse to speak english in public because they would considered a sell out. I think it was Erik Morales who btw speaks english but wont in public.

A fellow puerto rican n this thread said the same thing. It's very know a lot of these guys speak english but just refuse to cause of this reason.

Funny he wouldnt do so for some advertising dollars. But yet no commericals. Never speaking english in promos. Never speaking english in interviews even when "his friend" wasnt there to translate.

Why would it make me feel better? Why would I really care? Just something I never understood and I will keep believing it because the facts are there. Most of these guys understand and speak english but refuse to do so.... There has to be a reason for it.
