Journos are just human beings after all, and we can have some pretty petty feuds at times. It's really schoolyard stuff, though. Reminds me of Ron Borges, who spent several years in the nineties having a dig at Lennox Lewis in almost every article he wrote, even when the fighters involved didn't include Lewis or even the heavyweight division. I was greatly amused to see Borges referring to Lewis as 'one of the greats' in an article only about a year ago. Yeah, Ron, and you certainly played your part in building that up, didn't you? History will be the true judge. Certainly Wlad and Haye will leave a bigger mark on it than Dan Rafael, anyway.
Rafael is part of the reason ESPN and/or Sportscenter never shows boxing highlights. Of course there are other things that go into it (copyrights, etc.), but he is the boxing writer and he has a responsibility to push the suits at ESPN for more coverage. Sportscenter is a joke. They have wall to wall coverage of all things Lebron/Miami Heat/NBA, as well as college basketball and spring training, but never talk about the fight game. Did they even have highlights of Canelo Alvarez's win or Zab Judah's KO this past weekend?? I didn't see any. Dan Rafael is a fraud and a big disappointment.
Steve Bunce is probably the world's biggest Haye nuthugger. When talking about anyone else he's pretty much bang on..... but bring Haye up and the flag waving starts.
