I don't think he's literally saying "My nickname for him forced him to take the fight". The name 'Ducker' has been taken on board by everyone when referring to Haye, and he [Dan] is saying it's the general consensus of him being a 'duck' which may have been the contributing factor in making him take the fight.

But yes, Dan's a joke anyway.

Im not the one professing i am the best heavyweight in the world and chasing the klits around at charity events, cap this off with wearing t-shirts of decapitated champions.

Anyway, it'll be soon that he regrets he ever opened that mouth of his, cos (*in richie woodhall's voice *) 'believe you me' klitchsko will hand haye his ass.

Nothing anybody said in the pub, media, online, on TV or on radio has shaped David's thinking, trust me.

    Adios.

It's more complicated than that. The people who say things in pubs and here on Eastside are THE FANS. They are the people who buy the fight tickets and the PPVs. The only reason Haye fought Harrison was that he knew people would buy the fight. After the fight people started turning against Haye and he realised that another crap opponent would really hurt his popularity and earning power. So now he has finally stepped up. Haye fights for MONEY but what people say about him is indicative of WHERE THE MONEY IS. To say Haye isn't influenced by what the fans think about him and say in pubs and online is just plain wrong.

You may be right, but he christened Haye with that moniker and that statement implies that he signed for the fight because of it. Tongue in cheek maybe, but still a stupid comment.

When Dan was on ringside he really toned down the Haye rhetoric, even big mouth like him tows the Sky partyline for a paycheck. Hopefully, he doesnt get used on ringside in the future.

Anyway he is a sack of **** if he is deluding himself the fight getting made was down to him.

Rafael has interviewed Haye on a couple of occasions and says Haye is a real nice guy,he just believes hes avoided K2.
He talks a lot of trash about Floyd too but like Haye says hes a great interview.

Quickly....Gasman, you are so right...Dunk, no because now the time is right for Wlad (See Bunce in print, on here, on TV and on radio since May 2009!)...BrummyLad, SKY's figures and David's bank account confirm it was indeed a massive event...Bruthead, Haye cares about fans but let's all remember that some of these fans have been ultra-critical of him for taking fights with good money but no risk...he said in a recent Boxing Monthly piece that some people will still be critical when he beats Wlad and will claim..."Yeah, but he could have beaten you!"
I often get that feeling whenever Haye's name comes up - I'm not sure that there is anything that he can do to silence his harshest critics.
We need to celebrate now and get behind him.
