Look at the three fighters you just mentioned..... Defence really isnt there game. Williams he showed because he was unloading bombs and he did the same vs Bunema. Against Cintron he fought the way he usually did but just caught Cintron with a nice shot that Cintron didnt see. Dzinzurik doesnt commit to his punches like Martinez does vs some fighters and if he did I'm sure he could spark a few fighters. Martinez throws a lot of pitty pat punches just to score points a lot. Dzinzurik always throws nice sharp punches. There average punch that they will throw during a fight I say Dzinzurik punches slightly harder.

Martinez I expect to come in around 157 same as Dzinzurik. Martinez might be the slightly bigger fighter all depends on how SD handles the move up.

I was more trying to say that the comparison to Spinks vs Taylor wasnt accurate seeing as SD will have a nice height advantage and size wise Matinez isnt a huge middleweight like Taylor was compared to a small light middleweight like Spinks was. Its more the opposite with SD being a big light middleweight and Martinez being a some what small middleweight esp when compared to Taylor, Pavlik, Hopkins ect

Dont work like that sadly. It's all about timing. If SD times him right with his jab Martinez's speed and movement will be ineffective.

This could be a very competitive fight. Martinez might win it, but it won't be a cake walk. We will see.

martinez is the quicker and with more boxing skills a job is not going to do much to him especially when he has the reach advantage

More boxing skills??? No he doesnt. Skills wise Dzinzurik has the advantage.

And Dzinziruk has a 2 or 3 inche height advantage while Martinez prob has about a 2 or 3 inche reach advantage. Yes on boxrec it says 8 inches but that's wingspan finger tip to finger tip which gives Martinez a larger advantage seeing as Martinez has wide shoulders while Dzinzurik has a narrow thin upperbody. So arm length it will only be about 2 or 3 inches.

Martinez has his hands full anybody who doubts that is gonna be in for a big surprise Saturday night.

    No i was here first.:D

And "quickness and a lot more movement" does mean he's more skilled. More talented? Yes. More skilled? No

Martinez relies a lot on his talent then his boxing ablity. Dzindziruk has a great defence and jab and throws straight sharp punches going forwards or backwards. Dzinzurik is one of the most technically perfect fighters in boxing while Martinez and his "skills" are lacking and very flawed. He gets away with it because he is extremely talented and gifted. His hands down unorthodox style is gonna cause a problem for him in this fight because if he does that he's gonna have a jab in his face all night.

you keep bringing up the fact that Dzin can fight backwards and is defensively proficient but against what level of competition? Although Santos was near his prime when they fought, he is and always will be a b-level fighter as is Julio. Pav, who was arguably winning the sm fight before the cut, is someone you ridicule for his lack of defense but it is difficult to look good defensively against a Miranda breathing down your neck, prime JT with a great right hand and stiff jab and B-hop.

many fighters look great until they step up in competition. I dont believe that dzin has yet to do that.

i do agree with your assessment in SM. he is really more of an athlete, (cintron, ward, pascal), than a pure boxer(hop, pbf, dawson) and relies much on his athletic prowess. i dont see any value even at+375 and i always look for the underdogs. i believe the fight goes off at this line and mayorga goes off at +450(currently at +650).

Martinez is a reflex fighter alot like a prime Roy Jones. The Razor is southpaw to begin with and former champ at 154 so he isn't a bum:lol:. He is a very good all around fighter and has a highly regarded southpaw jab, some even saying one of the best in boxing. Highly technical fighter so he will be looking for Martinez to make a mistake. Not a flashy fighter, but he gets the job done. Think something like a Kotelnik only southpaw and bigger. :rofl At some of you clowns trying to take credit away from Sergio before the fight even begins. The Razor before Martinez came into the picture was talked about as an opponent for Williams and even good enough to beat Williams. He is taller than Martinez too. This fight going the distance wouldn't surprise me. Who would you guys want Martinez to fight, another Bulema? :verysad What Martinez is doing is what seperates him from the rest. He just finished taking on the killers of his division like Williams twice, Cintron, and Pavlik.

Yes, kudos to SM for taking on the best. SM cost me money against PW1(I had him at +220 and believe he lost the fight in the championship rounds) and against KP. The only play here would be Dzin as SM-475 is just too much(that was close to the line of pbf/marquez).

SM will probably fight AA late this year after AA is eliminated from the Super Six.

    Awesome fight.
