Klitschko-Haye: An absurd mismatch and hype job

I criticized Haye like many have, for talking a big game and pulling out multiple times leaving everyone hanging. Yet, in the span of time he had to prepare for his biggest fight he hasn't done enough to show any objective observer he can compete with somone like Wladimir. If your tongue wasn't stuck up Haye's **** , you'd understand the two observations are not mutually exclusive.

I think you have valid points. It is going to be very interesting watching WK fight a mobile, aggressive, unconventional fighter.

Jack, the reason people are so hyped about the fight (including myself, and YES I am an educated boxing fan) is because there are VERY FEW (maybe none) competitive opponents out there for either Klitschko at the moment.

Think about it - you have two vastly experienced heavyweight brothers that each stand around 6'6" or 6'7", weigh 250+, have deadly jabs (primarily Wlad), have exceptional power and worst of all they know how to use every single advantage they have (height, weight, reach, etc.) effectively. They are cerebral and stick to the gameplan every time.

Now - if you had two guys who were that dominant in ANY sport - wouldn't you be cheering for the underdog every once in a while? It's like when people got sick of seeing the Patriots win the Super Bowl year after year after year back in the early 2000s and disliked them simply because they were "too dominant." There is such a story like that in every sport, not just boxing - when one individual or team is too dominant, people want to see a loss just to shake things up. The Klitschkos are that team - they are taller, heavier and have longer arms than 95% of the competitors they face and there's automatically a huge disadvantage (only in the heavyweight division does that happen this often).

For me, that's one of the reasons I'm pulling for Haye. Like him or hate him, Haye has JUST AS GOOD OF A SHOT as guys like Adamek and Povetkin, if not better. Is Haye expected to beat Wladimir? Definitely not. Can it happen? Sure. Haye is the surefire underdog, but he has just as good of a toolset as any other heavyweight that could face the Klitschkos right now.

I don't have any disrespect for the Klitschko brothers, in fact I'm amazed that they use their advantages so effectively. For me, I know as long as they are the champions and continue to have huge height, weight, reach, etc. advantages over every single opponent, the heavyweight landscape will always look bleak. It's like a super middlewieght fighting a lightweight every time they step into the ring. I know that's not their fault, but the fact still stands.

 

Haye is a nobody, pure hype job. If he actually does not back out again he will be KO'd in 3-6 rounds depending on how fast he is running away.

This will be Wlads least meaning full fight in the last 5 years.

No more of one than any heavy Wlad has fought in the last five years. In fact he's a very live opponent.

 

When Haye loses he will be considered a no hoper hype job like every body else who has lost to a Klitschko, the truth is Haye when at his very best is of the same standard as Chagaev, Peter, Tony Thompson, Chambers, Ibragimov, Brewster, Brock, Bryd, Mercer,Barrett ( prime ), Arreola, Juan Carlos Gomez, Larry Donald, Sanders and Herbie Hide.

He is not better than any of those, a win over Haye will be a good victory just like the victories over all the above.

He fought two World title fights, one against a past his best Mormeck and then the hype job Enzo Mac, hardly sterling stuff really is it?

Valuev isn't a bad win and I didn't think anything of Ruiz in his prime never mind a semi retired version, but he was a mandatory so fair enough.

 

Haye will go out like a hero--on his stool.

 

Maybe he could ask Vitali for pointers?

 

Or any one of Wlad's many TKO by retirement victims as they're punished over the course of several one-sided rounds and ponder if it's really worth the additional brain damage to finish a fight they know they can't win. Plenty of options.

Quit kidding yourself 'kid'. Haye is a good fight, and will rank among Wladimir best wins. Haye is a worthy opponent, even, if he does talk complete trash. Cause Chisora is more meaning full right?

 

We'll see. Pac can punch too, but it wouldn't seem like it if he was in the ring with Bute.

Sooner or later you're going to realize that if both fighters are skilled, size makes a huge difference, and against Valuev Haye fought scared and the fact he won, is nothing to brag about considering I thought, a shot, way over the hill, Holyfield won too.
