Why Doesn't anyone Ever speak about the GREAT JMM's Body work? Under Rated Body work?

JMM's bodywork is excellent and I think it's 1 of about 5 elements that of his style that makes him a peremnial P4P Elite. It's always easy to say "work the body and the hands will fall" but when you watch JMM , proper mechanics and fundamentals become the potent element in his style that allows him to punch accurately and consistantly putting punches together. Balance and footwork are key when JMM works you inside alla Katsidas. Michael caught short right combos to the body which opened up the facial shots and the rest was history..... Also, has anyone noticed how much JMM's defense has improved since the Mayweather fight?

No, not really. I thought both Juan Diaz and Michael Katsidis were landing fairly regularly, especially the Australian.

What makes you think his defense has improved?

 

Juan Diaz connected with a very high percentage.


Casa connected less than Diaz,


Katisidis connected less than Casa.

Is it not a proof of improving defense????

Overall, these 3 opponents connected more than any of JMM's past opponents.

JMM's defense is going to be what it's always been. He uses his offense as his defense. He is one of the best punchers in the game today. I don't necessarily mean power puncher. I mean the guy can find openings from angles most can't, and he's sharp with them. He's a brilliant offensive boxer. Unfortunately, I think we're going to soon see that he's past his prime. The wars he goes too because he forgets defense have taken a toll. But for my money, of the three great Mexicans of his era, he was the most well rounded and best of the three. And that's saying a lot, now don't get me wrong. I have mad respect for Barrera and Morales. I just think JMM was slightly better.

 

most of the talk here is how JMM is overrated. No one ever mentions the John fight, and they do not seem to realize that JMM lost to Mayweather after being outclassed. The excuses of size aside, he really was not in that fight. He is not elite. Pacman is elite. He was put in with Oscar and beat him up. The elite guys find a way to win when they move up, not lose every round.

 

He was not awarded the decision against John, but he did not lose. He was robbed. And if he's not elite now, surely you must admit he was when Pac fought him. I don't see how anyone can watch those two brilliant matchups and then say one was elite and the other wasn't. Unless that person is just a boxing-ignorant *******.

 

It maybe good . . . but his body works is not a highlight of his skills. His accurate counter punching is, to the head and body.

Fact is . . . he had never finished off any of his opponents because of body punishments.

 

The question is about JMM's body punching.

Nobody is talking about moving up in weights or its merits or how he compares with Pacquiao.

For the love of boxing stop trolling everytime JMM gets brought up with your hateful bull****. Being able to move up in weight is a factor in being considered great in terms of accomplishments, but it does not define a fighter's quality. If everyone could do it with ease, what Pac has done would be considered insignificant. But it's not and for good reason. His loss to Chris John was a hometown robbery on top of numerous faulty low-blow point deductions. Watch the damn fight instead of pointing at a boxrec "L" to help tear down a great fighter just so you can nuthug another.

How can a non-elite fighter give an elite fighter hell twice during two spans of his development?

 

Fact is he made Robbie Peden quit on his stool after throwing up blood from a left to the liver from Marquez.

It's definitely a key element to his game, specifically towards pressure fighters.

 

JMM has always been a great body puncher. Even in his safety first boxing days.

 

I speak about it all the time, just last week a co-worker asked me why I looked so troubled and I told her, "it's just criminal how underrated the great JMM's bodywork is." Peabo Bryson's aural soul softly exuded from the speakers overhead.
