Hopkins ... all day every day.

And I don't give a **** how naturally talented Mayweather is. Step up to the plate and fight someone before you call out a guy like Hopkins.

Hopkins and Mayweather never liked each other. You forget that Hopkins has been talking **** on mayweather for years and was in there egging on shane to trash talk.

Mayweather has better quality names than Hopkins

Yeah Hopkins took the challenges like making Winky Wright jump 2 weight classes and fighting Roy Jones Jr when he was dead.

Oh yeah how about not fighting Chad Dawson and waiting for him to lose. Courageous!

How many defenses does Floyd have 13 or so ? Nobody wants to give credit to Hopkins for defending the Middleweight belt 20 times in a row, (each one by a wide margin, not one was close) only before LD robbed it from him w/ Duane Ford vs Taylor.

There was a lot of tough opponents and some very strong MW's he had to defend against. Even guys like Robert Alen and Vanderpol were very physical fighters with akward styles.

Knockouts of Trinidad, DLH and Glen Johnson is only icing on the cake.

You fixed it with an inaccurate number though. So, great point...:huh...And are accomplishments less valid when it's a decision than a knockout? ....:huh

The weight jumping matters, Exacta. Defenses in new weight classes. I'm sorry, but the weight jumping matters.

I am not discounting the weight jump but you can't ignore breaking Monzon's record. Hopkins was in a zone for each of those 20 defenses. There was not one fight that was even close.
it has to also matter in Hopkins arguement coming out of prison not having an olympic background to defend the MW title 20 times without cherry picking. Bhop was not liked by promoters they wanted him to go away like no one else. Each guy that tried to take the belt got dominated by that man.

    1. He didn't have anything to really cherry-pick. He was in a weak division.
    2. Importantly, I'm not in any way slagging off his achievements, only saying that I rank Mayweather's higher. This is not a "detract from Hopkins" or "stick up for Mayweather" position. I'm not a terribly big fan of either man, so it's not a bias issue. I want that to be clear.
    3. When putting Hopkins' defense record against Monzon's, it's very important to have the context of Hopkins not being considered linear until 2001. Defending the linear and/or undisputed title, Monzon is still well ahead on both counts. But, him against Monzon in the middleweight ranks is opening up a new conversation aside from the point, anyway.

But Floyd doesn't want to fight Pac so it will remain Hopkins.

He fought at middleweight as long as he could. No weight agreements or issues. Pavlik should have been able to handle the weight, but even had that fight been at 160 Hopkins would have won. Winky Wright? Fought him a little high, but he still beat him. He didn't do anything Pacman has not done or tried to do, and Manny is regarded as the best in boxing. Hopkins has a real fighters record. Fighting them all and losing a few, but coming in with a winning record. We know how great he is. Floyd has not tested himself like Hopkins.
