Before the fight, Lewis stated "I'm like fine wine, I get better with age"

yet afterwards, he said he was old and wanted to retire..

Lewis was 37 years old at the time, not that old for a heavyweight, Vitali turns 40 in a few months, and Wlad is 35

Vitali won the event that night, Lewis cut him with the glove, but Vitali was on his way to knocking lewis out, lewis was tired and exhausted, and had never taken such punishment, he slumped onto his stool at the end of that last round.

Lewis was booed from the arena, while vitali was cheered like a hero.

Vitali dominated Lewis, and scared and intimidated him into retirement

Vitali couldn't even beat the Lewis that Rahman sparked.

Prime for Prime Lewis KO1 or 2 like he did with the likes of Grant.

They beat each other up in a six round war. Its anyone's guess what would have happened if the cuts weren't as serious and the fight was allowed to continue

It was a good fight and both took some good shots.I dont think it scared Lewis into retirement,it probably just made him realise it was time to get out.He had made his money and achieved all he had set out to.No point carrying on when your not hungry for the fights. Why risk going out on the back of a defeat from a fight that you had no need to take.

No, boxers say all sorts before fights, Lewis underestimated Vitali no doubt, but say Vitali has won and there'd been a rematch, Lewis would have trained and returned with the same dedication and focus he did when any of his other opponents beat him. Against that version of Lewis, Vitali wouldn't have stood a chance. As it was Lewis won so he never felt the need to return. There was nothing controversial about the win. The fight was correctly stopped because Vitali's face was hanging off.

People act like Vitali is owed something.

It was a 12 round fight. Lewis, out of shape and preparing for a much lesser opponent, got the job done and without a doubt landed the best punch of the fight. Vitali showed his K.O% didn't reflect his actual power, landing flush on flabby Lennox and not budging him, before getting his face punched in.

Also Earl, your age argument is utterly ******ed.

Lennox fought better competition throughout his career than Wlad and Vitali combined. Hence why he didn't carry on, even though he probably could've, and put on lacklustre performances against **** fighters like Vitali has done.

Lewis was at his peak, coming off his best win over Tyson

After that fight, Lewis stated "I plan to carry on fighting for many years"

Then after lucking out against a green vitali he told vitali to beat Johnson to earn a rematch

Vitali destroyed johnson so Lewis retired

It took Lewis half a fight to punch Vitali's face off.
