Does Mayorga have any chance of Beating Cotto?

Mayorga took Mosley 12. The same Mosley who sparked Margo.

Yes that was a while ago, but Mayorga is a bully. Cotto took his first loss to a bully. The interesting part was he took a knee not a TKO. He didn't see holding, running, or any other tactic as a way to salvage a fight he was winning. He just wanted it to STOP. Mayorga is the bully of all bullies.

Mosley, Pacquiao, Judah and a loaded Margarito couldn't knock Cotto out despite all landing a lot of leather on him, but Ricardo ****ing Mayorga is going to do it by using THE ERASER????!

No one should be suprised if Mayorga is the first man to put Cotto away.

The amount of people giving mayorga no chance in this fight is ridiculous.

Mayorga is awkward, throws nothing but bombs, is tough as nails and bigger than Cotto.

Yeah he's been out of the ring for a long time and lost a few big fight's, but Cotto has had problems of his own too.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how Cotto deals with Mayorga's style and power and won't be suprised if he can't and get's ktfo.

Right and at the time, Margo was (in my opinion) cheating, secondly has more endurance and heart than Mayorga, it's also important to note that Cotto beat dudes ass until the 8th or so. Mayorga is no Margo, and not to mention he hasn't had a significant fight in 5 years, and has lost most of the big fights he's been in anyway. Dude is a circus sideshow, that's the only reason he's even known, he gets his ass beat tonight.

 

The uppercut is there for Mayorga if/when he chooses to throw it. There will be some very good moments throughout this fight.

Guys keep talking as though Mayorga is just some bum. Really? Who did he lose to? If anyone watched that Cory Spinks fight it is hard to say he "lost" in the traditional sense. Tito, ODLH, and SSM? All certified solid punchers. The power of Mayorga coupled with the fact that Cotto isn't known for defense and even less for power at 147, let alone 154.

he has a chance a punchers chance we all know this but also an akward stylistic chance as well, keep in mind Mayorga did out box Forrest in a close rematch, he also out boxed Vargas at a much higher weight class, he also was out boxing mosley who had a close fight with Cotto.
This fight might not be the easy fight every one thinks its going to be if Mayorga decides to fight a smart fight. his akward style mixed with the hit and dont get hit method of the game will make for a difficult night of work for any fighter.

 

What was the last time mayorga fought? Come on, you guys talk about the mosley fight like it was yesterday. This guy fought at an elite level with guys like Tito, DLH and Mosley YEARS ago. You guys are falling victims to the top rank hype. Even I thought Margo had a chance against Pac and looked at what happened.

I agree man, but cheating with what? Hand wraps. Cotto thoroughly out boxed the guy and when the guy finally started connecting he ran out of answers. He could have turned that fight into a total wrestling match and even lost a point and still won. He didn't. He folded.

Why is he a circus act? He has fought, beaten, and/or given runs for their money great fighters. He may be unortodoxed, but he is legit. And you are right, Mayorga is no Margo. Mayorga doesn't need heart. Mayorga is a bully. A bully is tuned to fear and feeds off of it. If Cotto shows an ounce of fear, which I believe he has, Mayorga will feast on it.

I hope you are right, but looking at the players involved? Pac might be fighting Mayorga who is tailor made for Pac.

I knew Margo would get the fight and didn't have a chance. Mayorga has fought once a year fairly consistently since 2003. He is as game an opponent as Mosley. The same Mosley that PRIME Cotto struggled with. The same Mosley Mayorga took to the finish and was winning on a card against.

I just don't like the matchup for Cotto. Styles(personalities) make fights. A bully is a bad look for Cotto. I hope I am wrong, but then I don't. :yep

 

well , any1 with 2 eyes can c tht Mayorga at least ,
has got inside the head of Cotto .

I do think , Mayorga has 1 chance to stop Cotto early on .
But that is 1 chance tht he will have to ,
go for .
He better open up,
like he did against,
"TITO" TRINIDAD,
or else he'll just get stopped mid-to late in 1 fight .
Cotto, does have the speed, accuracy, power, jab, and most of all,
LEFT HOOK, to stop Mayorga . Everytime Oscar hit him with the hook , he did damage .
Mayoraga does not like it to the body , evertime Tito went there with his hook ,
he did hurt Mayorga badly .
Mayorga does look in fantastic shape ,
but I can only envision 1 Cotto victory, in great fashion .
