Well he's the better boxer, better jab, better body punching, better head movement...Burns is probably a better combination puncher and has a better defence, but I can't see how he beats Uchiyama.

(And that's with my biased hat off!)

I ain't being biased but from the fights I've watched today, what you've described is MILES off the mark!!

his jab was a mere pawing range finder for the straight right, he was flat footed and barely moved the head.

I agree Uchiyama is head and shoulders above the rest of the super-featherweights, but apart from him theres no one that really stands out.

and then there is fact he was dropped hard in his last fight.

he seems to have trouble with southpaws as well, obviously Burns isn't, but if he can handle Martinez's power then he will handle Uchiyama's power.

After all that travelling and getting up at 9 I bloody well hope so. I'm feeling optimistic and I'm going for a 1-1 draw and a replay at the fortress Madejski, once we got you there we will win, your players have never experienced an atmosphere like it :happy

He didn't exactly 'handle' Martinez's power. He looked like he could have been blown over if another solid blow had landed on numerous occasions. Martinez's finishing skills weren't the best.

By the way, Kos is only saying all this because Uchiyama is Japanese. :p

Yep, he was dropped in his last fight by a big puncher and also rocked by Hero Bando of all people.

Uchiyama, for my money, is a more explosive puncher than Martinez. Martinez hits hard, but with his wild swings he finds it harder to land. The crisper, shorter shots of Uchiyama would find Burns more often than Martinez ever did.

I don't know why we're even discussing a potential match-up though, because it won't ever happen :yep
