Sergio Martinez will have no problem beating Sergiy Dzinziruk.

I think Martinez showed he can be timed in the Pavlik fight. If there's one thing Sergiy is great at, it's timing. I think he's got a decent shot if he he can adapt as Martinez adapts. However, Dzin is quite slow and I believe Martinez can take advantage of this by coming in at angles, throwing quick combinations, and slipping back out. I don't believe this will be an easy fight, but I think Martinez can win if he fights a very disciplined and very focused fight.

I hope i"m wrong, but see Martinez beating sergi in a similar way like Accelino Freitas beat Artur Gregorian.

The only problem with this initial thread is McGirt. It was an unknown unknown. There is a possibility that Dzinziruk will be improved; however, I don't think one fight is enough, so I'm going to still hang with my initial thread and put my credibility on the line.

McGirt was an excellent choice though because Dzinizruk needs another aspect in his game to be able to deal with fighters of Martinez' caliber and style.

With that said, I still don't see how he's anymore dangerous than Cintron, Williams, and especially Pavlik.

I like Dzinziruk. He's a fighter that gets better as the rounds go on. Very efficient in everything he does.

    * I had to edit out some of the content of your posts which i wasn't responding to because the length of your posts made my post too long*

    - Dzinziruk was more than capable at establishing his jab vs a 2005 Santos. You seem to think that this in and of itself is enough to nullify it without understanding the reasons that that can be the case.

    - If you studied Dzyna like you claim you'd realize that his high guard D cannot be compared to guys like Huck or Abraham. He doesn't rely soley on blocking shots. He's quite good at slipping parrying and does offer upperbody movement and occasional bobbing and weaving. Pigeonholing people is easy i guess though, i mean he has a funny name you can't say and fought out of Germany right.

    1st post responce

lol at least he admit it.

    - Good to see you could at least own up. The Konecny fight was a tough close fight but (for the record as im a big Konecny fan) Lukas is a top 154 lb that has similarities with Angulo being a pressure swarmer/slugger but Lukas has far superior defense and is among one of the best body punchers in the sport. Iv been praying for that fight, it would be exciting as hell and Konecny would win. I hope Lukas gets a shot vs a top fighter "name" but being Czech and fighting out of there i'm doubtful.

    - Konecny comparisons to Martinez..nothing much applicable. Dzinziruk isn't PW and doesn't fight with his hands at his waist with his chin sticking out. Konecny's right hook.....orthodox. Regarding a Martinez left hook you should have noticed that Dzyna was very effective countering Santos's left with his own right hook. That counter right hook is actually what he dropped santos with ans Santos wasn't the only victim of that same shot. A little half step back (controlling space is another attribute i feel you overlooked) and then that right hook. Now obviously against Martinez with his hand and foot speed it will be more difficult and it will be interesting to see if Dzyna can deal with him but there are a great deal of things like this that you've completely overlooked or discounted with your 'analysis' of Dzinziruk.

Same goes for Martinez. He obviously has physical advantages, although he does over everybody.

Regarding Dzyna's attributes. His handspeed is quite quick as are his feet, people really underrate these as it baffles me that iv seen people call him slow. Comparisons to Pavlik about Martinez's lateral movement is foolish as Pavlik is very slow at pivoting and having to reset his feet when presented with lateral movement. Dzyna will not have as much trouble with this as Kelly did.

The most important factor that you have failed to mention that i don't think you understand is.....timing. You also haven't mentioned Dzyna's counterpunching ability which is very good. Pavlik has good timing and that is how and why he had success in rounds 4-8. Dzyna's is even better in my opinion. For a recent example of this watch another Ukrainian Kotelnik vs Alexander. (Not comparing Martinez, who i love, with Devon though obviously as that would be incredibly insulting towards Sergio :D) Going along with this is rhythm, Martinez is very much a rhythm fighter and good timing can disrupt this which is also what Pavlik accomplished in those middle rounds.

    - Thank you for touching on this

    - I honestly don't know how people can call him slow.

Mcgirt is a huge factor but you have it completely backwards. The only thing he could potentially accomplish is ruining Dzyna the way he's failed with every decent fighter he's trained for the last half decade. Hopefully the language barrier and Dzyna's age and experience will mean that Mcgirt's "advice" will be ignored and irrelevant. I wouldn't be shocked if Buddy "poisen" Mcgirt tried to get Dzyna come out fighting out of a Orthodox stance. Here's to hoping he someone slips him the Yushchenko treatment :good

I'm going to be respectful in my response.

I do believe that Mcgirt had a positive effect on Dzinziruk because he was using movement that he hasn't shown in previous fights. Considering Mcgirts' personal understanding of boxing skill, I think his input contributed to this and it was the main reason why Dzinziruk's team hired him.

And while I knew that Martinez would outjab Dzinziruk and that Dzinziruk would have no answer for his style and speed, I did underestimate Dzinziruk's heart; however, it's hard for me to quantify heart.

I made the same mistake in the Mares vs Darchinyan fight. I think Darchinyan was the superior operator, but Mares heart was the main reason in my opinion he managed to overcome adversity early on and come back to win the fight.

But other than that, I said that the more Dzinziruk opened up, the more likely he would be knocked out. This turned out to be true. Perhaps if Dzinziruk would have stayed more tenative, he would have merely lost a decision.

Either way, I will say that Dzinziruk made improvements from his last fight, but he never should have been put in with a guy like Martinez at this level. He needed more sessions with Mcgirt, so he could adapt to different styles.

If he recovers from this loss, he'll be a solid fighter, but I don't think he'll ever be elite. But at the least, you need to give props where they're deserved. For the most part, I called this fight to a T.

I did think Dzinziruk's timing could possibly offset Martinez's speed similar to how Pavlik did during the middle rounds. I do think his timing was decent but Sergio's speed and power were way to overwhelming for him, as i think they'd be for damn near anyone. Dzyna's lack of power also didn't help as he Martinez had nothing to fear. The speed Martinez shoots that jab from his hip is insane.

One aspect that i did mention that most weren't giving Dzyna credit for was his footwork. It's very good and pretty quick. Against Cintron, Pavlik, Williams I Martinez was able to to box and dance on the outside when he chose to and none of them could contain him. Dzinziruk on the other hand was quite good at cutting off the ring and was in Martinez's face almost the entire fight.

I still 100% disagree with you about Mcgirt. Dzinziruk's style did not change one bit, he showed nothing new and during the fight Mcgirt offered no advice between rounds and i was damn glad to see it. Shaw probably forced him to have a "name" trainer in his camp.

I mentioned this before the Martinez fight. I have at least 9 of his fights and it's there in every one of them. Aside from the upperbody movement and occasional bobing and weaving which has always been there what else do you think was different in his style?
