..and yes, NYC is expensive. I live there. I meant that if money is no object, Bute's fans will travel the hour to MSG. Hell, Ricky Hatton's fans travelled from the UK to Vegas!
Ocelot, it's not at all that Bute wasn't comfortable, it was because... 1) he was being overly cautious because of Miranda's early round power and 2) he wanted to take the time to study and size Miranda properly (Bute is sometimes too cerebral for his own good early on in his fights, which he was in that fight). Him and his coach both mentioned and admitted those facts. It's not cause he was uncomfortable. He was less comfortable with Brinkley's awkward style early on than Miranda's.
When he said that "Bute is not what he should be" or something, it could mean more than one thing and I wanted explanation and he gave it to me. I'm always respectful of others (I know its rare these days), try to do the same to me and since he answered me I dont know the reason of your post.
I agree and I heard that they wanted to apply some pressure in the early round against Miranda since Larouche thought that Miranda cant fight when he is on his back foot. As Pasky stated Bute is often cautious and more so since he tried to apply pressure when he usually stay on the defense and study his opponent.
Pasky2000, MJK - I hadn't read that about the Miranda fight. I saw it at the time as Bute being uncomfortable - that he was accustomed to fighters who came right at him or let him come right to them. If that's the case, that he was being cautious, it does change the equation.
Well these days people are using the anonymous that internet is giving them to say about anything. It's fun to exchange with respectful and insightful people.
I wonder why everyone is so excited about this bout when 90% of you are so certain that Bute will defeat Kessler? I mean, if you are so sure of a defeat, isn't that like a MISMATCH? Not that I believe a healthy Kessler won't be competitive, but I actually never thought that Kessler was very good in the first place with his stiff, upright non-ad******g style. With his eye problems I'm convinced that there is the very likely probability he will be even less of an excitement than he was prior to the injury. That's not to say there is much confidence in Bute either since he hasn't fought anyone as good as the opponents Kessler has faced. Well, for me this fight will be as engaging and meaningful as an warm-up fight before the main attraction. Interesting to see which comes out on top even though it appears the outcome has already been written.
I cannot talk for the others. I understand your point, but in my view, Kessler will be the best opponent Bute have ever fight. As a fan, I'm not saying it's a complete mismatch or that the fight will be boring. I'm saying, I'm confident that Bute got the tools to win this fight and I think it will be entertaining. And lets be honest Kessler is more exciting than Mendy, Brinkley, Magee, etc. So its why I'm so happy about this news.
Before spending your energy debating with him, just know that he's the one that started this masterpiece of a thread lately : http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=295148 It's up to you from here to continue or not...
ive been thinking about this personally i am reserving judgement on Bute until ive seen much of him but i worry if this fight is a high risk/low reward kind of fight. If Kessler comes in at 100% its gonna be the toughest night hes ever had even if he manages to get the win. However, if he loses critics will likely say it was due to injuries and hes nowhere near the man he was etc. Poor Bute i hope he wipes his tears with the millions hes made fighting nobodies
**** i hope this comes off. At this stage my money is with Bute, i think Kessler has certainly declined and Bute is looking more dangerous everytime he steps in the ring. Kessler might be too hittable at this point for someone as damaging as Bute, but it would be a huge test for Bute and probably an absolute barnburner.
I have to disagree on the Bute-Miranda fight. Bte was very comfortable. He took the center of the ring and needed only one and a half rounds to find his marks. For him, it's not much. Miranda stopped boxing because it wasn't working. Bute was avoiding and blocking a lot of his punches while connecting at 50%. For me, this is comfort. That being said, we don't know how Bute will look against a skilled fighter. I may be disappointed or very happy. Future will tell.
The fight didnt last for a full four rounds and he trounced Miranda so your right, Bute wasnt uncomfortable for a long time. But as you said in the first two rounds or so it wasnt his game to try to come forward in the begining of the fight.
