Two guys that got their faces re arranged by a storm (called Manny Pacquiao)

 

Cotto will win a unanimous decision in the rematch by a wide margin.

Margarito isn't the same fighter as before. We haven't even seen how he looks after the brutal beating he took from Pacquiao either.

 

I don't see what people saw of Cotto that make them think he wouldn't do well in a rematch.

His defense has improved visibly, and he was able to keep the bigger and wilder Mayorga at bay, outboxing him for a comfortable majority of rounds, before stopping him in the 12th.


Sure, it wasn't the DLH knockout, but he sill looked good. Smart, sharp, offensively dynamic, and mobile.

 

There Was a moment in the 7th when Cotto started retreating that seemed like flashbacks of Margarito/Cotto.

Everytime Mayorga put pressure on Cotto he seem to get the best of him and Mayorga is not really a pressure fighter.

If Cotto/Margarito happens again, it will be the same outcome as the first one.
Loaded gloves or not!

 

I disagree. Cotto's footwork, tight guard, and improved head movement made Mayorga looked downright silly at times. He'd throw a furious flurry, and Cotto would step back unhurt, and the replay would reveal a whole lot of nothing coming of those punches.

Sure, he got caught with some good right hands, but he was mobile when he had to be against a bigger puncher and fighter.

The manster fought the whole 12 rounds and landed 229 punches! I give him credit for that... he fought a Bad ass for 12 rounds, a certified killer!!

Cotto was winning the Marg fight handedly (more convincingly than even Pac) before the accumulation kicked in. Accumulation greatly amplified by P.O.P. (plaster of Paris) .
Cotto would outbox Margarito the first half of the fight and maybe retreat the second half, while still landing. I think Cotto would win an easy decision.

 

Mayorga wasn't doing sh1t for 160 out of 180 seconds in every single round , easy to look good against that if you are skilled and experienced enough .

 

plus Cotto has to fight smart and box Margo, he will win by a close but clear UD.

With Steward in his corner, he'll get it done.

 

I saw the same fight you did......

Cotto was hit plenty enough by the 38 year old Mayorga.

.....In a couple of those late rounds Mayorga closed the rounds landing clean shots a Cotto who seemed somewhat bothered and stunned by the punches.

I noted to myself watching this fight tonight that the difference between Mayorga and Margarito is that Mayorga now at 38 years old can only fight in spurts.
When Mayorga had some sucess tonight getting to Cotto, he'd gas out and have to take a break to recharge.
........Margarito would never do such a thing vs Cotto.
......and there lies the problem for Cotto if he's to fight Margarito again........once Cotto hits that cardio wall of fatigue, Margarito is'nt going to let off the pace, to the contrary, he's going to increase it......and just like in their first fight, Cotto will be right there for the taking.


I did'nt see anything much different that Cotto did tonight that he did'tn do in that fight where Margarito mugged him late.

In fact, Cotto fought much the same plan vs Mayorga that he did that night he lost vs Margarito.

Mayorga tonight found a home for his right uppercut, a Margarito trademark.
Cotto leans himself foward too much that he leaves himself vulnerable to uppercuts.
Margarito killed Cotto with those uppercuts and if they fight again, I dont see anything changing.

Some of you guys want to convince yourselves that it was Margarito's handwraps that beat Cotto.
You guys are in for a rude awakening once Cotto gets into the ring again and you see Cotto in retreat and getting hammered again.


Cotto neither has the speed, workrate, or stamina that Pacquiao had in defeating Margarito.
......and let me remind you guys that since Pacquiao's move up from 130 lbs, no one has hurt Pacquiao more than the non-plastered hands of Antonio Margarito.


This time it ends sooner, Antonio Margarito tko 8 Miguel Cotto.

 

You have blinders on.......

Margarito invested early to the body against Cotto.
.....in the second half Margarito was going both up and down and working Cotto.

Magarito being able to take vicious shots and keep coming, combined with his workrate and relentless in putting pressure on Cotto is what led to his victory.

......I got the sense tonight to see that if Mayorga could sustain a workrate (which he could not) he could overwhelm Cotto.....

.....the pace was slow enough vs Mayorga tonight that Cotto was not under pressure and he could stay calm enough to implement his boxing.

Margarito is going to bring a heavy pace and highworkrate, and there is'nt anything that I can see Cotto doing to derail that type of a gameplan by Margarito.

Margarito is just all wrong for Cotto, he to relentless and he takes to good a punch for Cotto to be able to discourage Margarito.
